Did You Know? A Lost Phone Doesn't Mean Losing Your Contact List Anymore

Verizon Wireless Customers Can Manage Contact Lists With Backup Assistant, Now Free and Available on Most Phones, Including a Growing Number of Smartphones

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., June 29 -- For Verizon Wireless customers, losing a phone need not mean losing that valuable list of contacts and phone numbers.  Backup Assistant(SM), a wireless application that saves and updates a copy of the phone's address book to a secure website, is now available without a monthly charge on more than 130 Verizon Wireless devices.  If a phone is lost or damaged or when customers upgrade their phones, Backup Assistant restores the saved address book to a new phone wirelessly.

Backup Assistant can be managed at My Verizon, customers' online account management and service tool.  It's now faster and easier than ever for customers to manage Backup Assistant, pay bills and get bill reprints, make address changes, activate a phone, or suspend or resume service.  Customers can track their usage, check their account balances and change plans and features.  My Verizon also provides easy access to a suite of services that enable customers to filter unwanted content and manage their families' wireless usage.

Using Backup Assistant through My Verizon allows customers to manage their contacts, form contact groups, and restore contacts that may have been accidentally deleted on their phone.  Backup Assistant customers can also import contacts from other contact management applications, and export contact files to a 3G Smartphone or into a personal or business e-mail program.

Backup Assistant, powered by FusionOne since 2004, is available on more than 130 Verizon Wireless Simple Feature phones and 3G Multimedia phones as well as a growing number of 3G Smartphones including LG Ally(TM) and enV®3; BlackBerry® Curve(TM) 8530, Curve 8330, Storm2(TM), Storm(TM) and Tour(TM) smartphones; Samsung Reality(TM); and DROID Incredible by HTC; and will be available on the just-announced DROID X by Motorola, which goes on sale on July 15.

Previously, customers who were not registered for My Verizon paid a monthly fee of $1.99 for the Backup Assistant.  Now, the monthly subscription is included in Verizon Wireless service.  Standard data charges may apply for downloading the application.  The Backup Assistant application is available for download from the Verizon Wireless Media Store or directly from the handset.
