Laplink® Ships Enhanced Versions of PCmover® with New Features and Performance Capabilities

PCmover is the #1 best-selling migration solution in the world.

BELLEVUE, Wash., Aug. 10 -- Laplink® Software, Inc. has released updated versions of its #1 best-selling PC migration software PCmover®, complete with operating system independent restore, a new customized user-interface and improved application transfer features.

With the new versions of PCmover, users can now restore old Windows® images or the contents of an actual hard drive to a new PC without overwriting anything on the new PC, including the operating system. PCmover, which complements all-available imaging software on the market, is the only software with this capability.

PCmover's newest versions include a new customized user-interface that enables users to easily select whether they are moving from one PC to another, upgrading their current PC to Windows 7 or restoring an old image (or hard drive) to a new PC. Subsequent steps are customized to the user's selection making it easier than ever to use. The newly available customized user-interface and enhanced application transfer capabilities minimize errors and contribute to overall smoother, application migration.

"This release brings more innovations to our flagship product PCmover," said Laplink Software CEO Thomas Koll. "The new PCmover Image Assistant is a technology break-through allowing for the first time to have applications, data and settings restored from an old image back up to a new Windows 7 PC without overwriting the new PC. Now users can back up their existing Windows XP PCs without the fear of losing all their data with the switch to Windows 7."

PCmover is truly the only software of its kind. Some products transfer files but not programs. Other products transfer the entire PC into a "Virtual Machine" (VM) on the new PC, a time-consuming and complicated process that still uses the old operating system, meaning the user hasn't completely moved to the new PC. And, to legally use the old operating system in the VM often requires buying an additional Windows license, forcing users to spend more money or cause them to use their licenses illegally. PCmover solves all of these problems.

"No other product can stack up to what PCmover has to offer," continued Koll. "Not only is PCmover the best, but it is the safest choice for end-users because it won't clog up your hard drive with unnecessary software nor will it force users to break their license agreements. Using PCmover will save users over $300 in time and money."

All of the classic functionality that makes PCmover unique is still included, such as complete selectivity over what programs, files and settings are transferred or restored and quickly reversing changes made to the new PC with an easy undo feature. Users also won't have to stay with the PC during the move. After the transfer begins users can walk away while PCmover does the rest. PCmover makes moving to a new PC or upgrading an existing PC hassle free.

PCmover has received rave reviews by large tech publications world-wide and is the #1 best-selling migration solution in the world. PC Magazine awarded it the coveted "PC Magazine Editor's Choice Award" and it is the #1 selling utility software in Japan.

PCmover comes in versions designed and priced for specific users and all are compatible with Windows 7 and 64-bit Operating Systems. The versions include Enterprise, Business, Professional, Home, Image Assistant(TM), Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant(TM) and Netbook Edition.  Go to http://www.laplink.com for pricing information and download options.
