IPNETZONE Launches the First Global MPLS Exchange Platform (MEP)

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 -- IPNETZONE COMMUNICATIONS today announced the launch of the world's first global MPLS Exchange Platform (MEP), a series of interconnection points allowing for the construction of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks across multiple carriers, thus enabling seamless and immediate connectivity to global markets and facilities.

"Amid today's economic recovery, enterprise IT departments are leaner and making more strategic investments in Information Technology and Communications (ITC) services.  They are demanding more from their telecommunications carriers for less; they want the carrier to service all their needs, not just the physical locations that are 'on-net.'  This need forces service providers to expand their network coverage in ways that can oftentimes pose significant financial or market risks," stated Joon Shin, President and CEO of IPNETZONE. "In addition, the ever-pressing growth of mission critical applications causes carriers to expand and/or upgrade their networks merely to stay competitive.  Responding to these network demands proves extremely costly and is still perceived as inadequate often resulting in carriers losing both capital as well as market share."

In an effort to limit technical and financial obstacles caused by carriers' most ubiquitous problem, lack of coverage, IPNETZONE has introduced the MEP and an option to implement Extended Virtual Wide Area Network (evWAN), for carrier customers who prefer fully transparent Layer 2 Ethernet services, where both services are offered over a single IPNETZONE Enhanced Ethernet Network to Network Interface (eeNNI).   Service providers can now have access to multiple MPLS networks globally and experience MPLS the way it was originally intended - as a carrier to carrier service. By leveraging the carrier facilities on the MEP, carriers and service providers of all types can dramatically increase revenue opportunity and productivity while vastly reducing interconnection costs, operating expenses and time to market.

IPNETZONE carrier customers can connect to the MEP within any metro, regional or global point of presence.  Once on the MEP, carriers can choose to purchase a number of different Last Mile access methods including native Ethernet, Ethernet over Copper, TDM, EoTDM, EoSonet and speeds ranging from 1Mb to 10Gb.

In addition to IPNETZONE's plans to make interconnections, even through some of the major Carrier Ethernet Exchanges, their approach offers carrier and service provider customers, of all sizes, the ability to quickly implement robust, end-to-end MPLS and Layer 2 interconnectivity solutions at-scale with minimum up-front investment and the ability to monetize the emerging MPLS interconnect model, thereby increasing profitability and reducing financial and operational risks.
