Denver Startup Launches Secure Health-Based Social Networking Site
Connects Users for Researching Local Illnesses
DENVER, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- What's Going Round, (WGR) a web 2.0 startup based in Denver, Colorado, has launched a site that will empower web users by connecting them with others in their immediate area to share knowledge and experience of contagious diseases "going 'round" in their communities.
"Current skyrocketing healthcare costs, combined with the rising acceptance of the web for medical information and the viral growth of social networking, has created the perfect storm within which the new WGR site can thrive," says Jim Campanell, co-founder and CTO. Research shows that a significant portion of today's rising healthcare costs result from medical consumers using the healthcare system inappropriately. As adaptation of the system spreads nationwide, it will enable more proactive and "real-time" infectious disease tracking by private-sector caregivers, health organizations, and government agencies.
