Immerz and Play N Trade Announce Call of Duty: Black Ops Tournament

LOS ANGELES, May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Just weeks before the biggest video game convention in the world, gamers around the country will have the chance to duke it out at their local video game store for an opportunity to participate in and be showcased at the coveted Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).  The ultimate award-winning gaming peripheral, KOR-fx from Immerz, and the premium tournament retailer in the country, Play N Trade, have teamed up to bring gamers together for a weekend of non-stop action featuring the best selling Xbox 360 game of all time, Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops. The free-for-all tournament will aim to find the four best international players and will be held May 21-22nd at participating Play N Trade stores around the country. Gamers can go to the Play N Trade website for details on how to enter the tournament and for a list of participating stores.  There will be a $10 entry fee for the tournament.

"We are very excited to find and welcome the greatest Call of Duty players in the world and proud that everyone in this tournament will have a chance to win a once in a lifetime adventure. You only have to play the game to win," said Shahriar S. Afshar, founder and CEO of Immerz, Inc.

Over the course of one weekend, gamers will compete in free-for-all gameplay (4-6 players per match) in local rounds of single elimination tournament for a chance to represent their local Play N Trade store at an international level. On Sunday, May 22nd, the local round winners will compete against each other over Xbox LIVE from their home Play N Trade location, with four finalists emerging as celebrity tournament winners.  In addition, a fifth lucky winner will be selected as the official KOR-fx tournament ambassador, and will join the final four on their celebrity tour. The champions will be flown to Los Angeles to showcase their tournament-winning skills at the Immerz/Play N Trade booth at E3 (June 7-9, 2011) and compete for the championship title.  The grand prize package includes a 42" 3D-TV, a $1,000 Play N Trade gift card and a KOR-fx. All travel and hotel expenses will be paid for by Immerz and Play N Trade.

"Leading up to the launch of KOR-fx, we wanted to give gamers an opportunity to not only try out the product first-hand, but also to join the 4D Revolution(TM) and tell the world all about their experience with the device and the reaction from other gamers right from the E3 show floor," continued Afshar.  "Play N Trade has an excellent reputation for running first-rate tournaments and we are excited to 'power' the Call of Duty tournament with them ahead of the launch of KOR-fx, exclusively in their stores later this year."

"The Call of Duty games are one of the most popular and best selling series of games at our stores and the style of gameplay truly maximizes and highlights the immersion KOR-fx can create - both enhancing the overall gameplay experience and helping to create a competitive advantage against other players," said Play N Trade President Sean Finnigan.  "Our stores are designed with tournaments like this in mind and we are thrilled to offer our customers the chance to attend E3."

Launching exclusively at Play N Trade retail stores and PlayNTrade.com later this year, the KOR-fx device uses anew form of acousto-haptic technology that will revolutionize the way consumers experience different types of games and other forms of media.  Using the human body itself to create a more powerful sense of immersion, the KOR-fx enhances game playing, movie watching, and music listening.

Tournament players will have the option to convert $5 of their entry fee into a preorder purchase of a KOR-fx when the device launches later this year at Play N Trade stores across the US and in Canada and PlayNTrade.com for a suggested retail price of $189.99.  This summer, customers will be able to try out KOR-fx first-hand at special in-store demo kiosks prior to the retail launch.
