ArtServe Michigan Presents Creative Impact Michigan e-Magazine/Website

WIXOM, Mich., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ArtServe Michigan, Michigan's leading statewide arts and cultural advocacy organization, announces the launch of Creative Impact Michigan, a statewide, bi-weekly e-magazine and events website focused on the entrepreneurs and practitioners who are redefining the industry, as well as the innovative arts and culture groups, practices and events contributing to Michigan's reinvention. The publication launches in May 26, 2011 and will publish every second and fourth Thursday of each month delivered by email and available at news.artservemichigan.org.

"The individuals leading and contributing to the creative sector are providing essential tools to strengthen Michigan's economic resilience, shape young minds to be innovative leaders for our future and attract and retain talent to our state," said Jennifer Goulet, president of ArtServe Michigan. "With the decline in local arts and cultural dedicated news outlets and reporting, compounded by a decrease in public and private funding, we saw a need for a resource like Creative Impact Michigan."

Creative Impact Michigan will include feature stories and spotlights on artists, projects and news from Michigan's creative community, as well as monthly videos, affirming the impact art and culture is having on people and communities across Michigan. The e-magazine will focus on how creative talents are being utilized to directly meet the current and future challenges and opportunities faced by the state of Michigan and its many diverse communities.

The site features a fully-searchable statewide arts and culture events calendar database, which will be user-generated and free to use. All events are validated for accuracy before being posted to the site. In addition to offering an arts and cultural calendar service to the many regions of the state that do not currently have an established arts and culture calendar resource, ArtServe is partnering with several already-existing calendars around the state to offer a full-spectrum view of available events and activities throughout Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

"Creative Impact Michigan will educate, celebrate and affirm the substantial role of the people who lead the creative solutions positioning Michigan to be competitive on the global stage," said Simon Perazza, director of constituent relations for ArtServe Michigan. "The e-magazine and events website will 'connect the dots' for a wide audience on the ways this ingenuity is invigorating our communities, often in unexpected ways, to meet the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities in our state."
