Jimdo Announces Dropbox Integration

SAN FRANCISCO, June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --Jimdo, the global free website creation tool that "arrived" in the US a month ago, has announced another important service to customers who live in areas with spotty or limited bandwidth: integration with Dropbox.  Dropbox integration makes uploading photos and files simpler and is especially helpful for customers with stores.

"In the US as much as in any of the other countries we serve, bandwidth constraints often make uploading large files inconvenient," said Christian Springub, co-founder of Jimdo. "With the Dropbox integration, customers can store their large files in a Dropbox account and add them to Jimdo sites easily. Our customers want and need this."

"Many users develop sites in teams. They can now create a shared Dropbox folder for everyone contributing to the site, like the designer, photographer, and writer. The person actually putting together the final site then has all the requisite files in one place rather than scattered in various emails. Plus, with the Dropbox integration, files can be added directly to the site instead of being downloaded and then uploaded again.

Jimdo now has 4 million users in Europe, Asia, and South America, ranks #701 overall on Alexa worldwide, and is in the top 500 sites in fifteen countries. It supports global payment systems and eleven languages.

Quantcast measures that Jimdo reaches about 17 million people monthly worldwide with over 170 million impressions.

About Jimdo

Jimdo - Pages to the People (http://www.jimdo.com) was founded in February 2007 by three young entrepreneurs-Christian Springub, Fridtjof Detzner, and Matthias Henze-in an old farmhouse.  The technology powering Jimdo was developed as a content management service for business clients, but frequent requests from friends gave the founders the idea to offer free JimdoPages. In just a few minutes, anyone-no technical knowledge required-can get a website online, complete with blog, photo galleries, video, online store, and social media integration. Funding from the Samwer brothers, Germany's largest VCs (CityDeal/Groupon, Facebook, LinkedIn), allowed Jimdo to scale quickly, and it is now available in 11 languages. In May 2011, the 4,000,000th Jimdo site went online. Follow us on Twitter @jimdo.
