IG Index Launches Dealing app for Android

LONDON, June 20, 2011/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

    - More Trading Flexibility on Offer as Smartphone use Continues to Grow

IG Index, the UK's leading financial spread betting
[http://www.igindex.co.uk/spread-betting/about-spread-betting.html ] firm, is
now offering its new Android mobile dealing application for download. The
app offers existing clients the equivalent functionality of the traditional
dealing platform, while prospective spread bettors can apply for an account
directly from their mobile phone. The new app is available free of charge
directly from the Android Market (market.android.com).

Tim Hughes, Managing Director of IG Index, commented:

'Android mobile phones are becoming increasingly popular in the UK,and
after seeing the phenomenal success of our iPhone app we recognised the
importance of developing software to work on this platform too. With the
iPhone now accounting for 12% of all client transactions, we're acutely
aware of the demand from our customers to be able to trade whenever they
want and wherever they are.'

Clients using IG Index on Android will have the ability to place spread
bets on the full range of markets, including equities, indices, commodities
and forex [http://www.igindex.co.uk/spread-betting/forex.html ]. Additional
functionality also includes viewing open positions, watchlists and real-time
balance information, setting or editing working orders, and generating a
range of charts with customised timeframes. Unique to IG Index, non-clients
downloading the app will also have access to live prices, along with an
account application form customised for use on Android devices.

A recent report[1] showed that the Android Market was the
fastest-growing mobile content platform over the first four months of 2011,
and the number of Android apps available for download is expected to exceed
those in the App Store by August 2011. The sale of smartphones continues to
grow in the UK, with Android reported to have a 38% market share, compared
to Apple's 23%.[2]

Further releases of the Android app are scheduled, including support for
tablet and small-screen devices.
