ComponentOne Announces Microsoft .NET Charting Enhancements and New Control Suites

Studio Enterprise 2011 v2 Delivers MVC and jQuery Controls for Amplified Web Development

PITTSBURGH, July 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ComponentOne, a leading component vendor in the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner program, announced today the release of ComponentOne Studio Enterprise 2011 v2, a complete suite of controls for Windows, Web, and mobile application development. Using the company's new HTML5 and jQuery Framework named Wijmo, ComponentOne has built a new generation of Web controls. The Studio Enterprise v2 release offers complete server-side development, a rich client-side UI, and an expanded control set for .NET development.

New to Studio Enterprise are Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) charts. "Wijmo has bar charts, line charts, and pie charts all powered by inline Scalable Vector Graphics," stated Chris Bannon, product manager at ComponentOne. "Vector drawings can be scaled to any size without losing quality. Couple that with a very small XML format, and it makes SVG perfect for creating data visualizations for the Web. We have done all the hard work to make using SVG effortless," said Bannon.

The ComponentOne website offers an online demonstration, tutorials, and additional details on this ultimate kit for web development (see MVC and ASP.NET controls). A big advantage is that a development team using the ComponentOne controls will be able to take on any style of web development all while using a single framework.

With the refresh of the http://www.silverlight.net website earlier this week, ComponentOne announced its lineup of Silverlight and WPF controls has been enhanced and expanded. A big plus to international users is the announcement that ComponentOne translated and included built-in localization for all controls in 14 languages.

New to the Silverlight and WPF lineup is an Excel component that can read and write to Microsoft Excel files from C# or VB.NET code. Bannon shared that a user may create or load an existing Excel Workbook and access individual sheets as if they were a simple grid composed of rows, columns, and cells. Helping to enhance the layout of Silverlight and WPF apps, the v2 TileView control is an interactive items control that allows users to expand and collapse tiles to view more or less information.

Building upon the company's heritage of WinForms controls, widely recognized as the founders of FlexGrid and True DBGrid, ComponentOne released a Windows 7 library of useful components specifically for the Windows 7 operating system. These controls allow a user to easily manage progress indicators, thumbnails, and jump lists on the Windows 7 taskbar as well as create and display custom dialogs.

On the horizon for ComponentOne in late August 2011 is the release to web (RTW) of its Windows Phone controls. Currently in Community Technology Preview (CTP), the suite of controls enables mobile developers to create advanced apps with ease. This studio of over 10 Silverlight controls is designed to enhance the rich user experience of the Windows Phone 7, making effective use of the phone's form factor, touch and gesture capabilities, and Metro theme.
