Hansen.com Opens Its Doors to Serve State & Local Governments, Water Utilities, Transit Authorities, and Public Safety Agencies

Principals Launch New IT Business from Familiar Site, Returning to Original Headquarters

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Hansen.com opened its doors to provide IT consulting, systems integration, and web services to state & local governments, water utilities, transit authorities, and public safety agencies. After re-acquiring the rights to http://www.hansen.com/, the new business launched from its original business location where it started its successor company, Hansen Information Technologies, over twenty eight (28) years ago.

"We are delighted, again, to serve the government market, after selling Hansen Information Technologies to Infor Global (Alpharetta, GA) in 2007," stated Chuck Hansen, principal of Hansen.com.  "After watching the effects of the economic downturn, my brother, Scott, and I, felt the timing was right to launch an IT business that was dedicated to helping government agencies manage their operations, benchmark financial performance, and support emergency services.  We're back!"

Former government clients included the cities of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Louisville, Seattle, St. Louis, Virginia Beach, Fairfax County, Montgomery County, Hertfordshire County Council (UK), Johannesburg Water (South Africa), Melbourne Water (Australia), New Zealand, California's Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Sydney Water Board (Australia), Toronto (Ontario, Canada), and Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada). Transit clients included AMTRAK, Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority, San Francisco Metro, Dallas Regional Transit Authority, Golden Gate Bridge Transit Authority, The Port Authority of NY and NJ, Westrail (Australia), and New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

Government agencies are facing unprecedented challenges. Even as many begin a gradual recovery, most experts agree that it will be several years before pre-recession budget levels are regained.  While some have recently reported revenue increases, most are bracing for the loss of one-time outlays from stimulus funds, depleted rainy day funds, and the end of creative accounting that helped plug short term budget gaps.  High unemployment, continued real estate foreclosures, and rising pension costs, are causing agencies to re-think, re-engineer, and re-structure their operations in search of a 'new normal' for their government.

Hansen.com represents a new breed of IT consulting, integration, and web service provider.  Possessing deep domain expertise and backed by substantial resources, Hansen.com can directly address the IT needs for governments, water utilities, transit authorities, and public safety organizations.

In addition to assisting government clients, Hansen.com also provides advisory services for publicly-traded and closely-held companies, wishing to explore strategic alternatives. Given the ongoing consolidation of the government IT market, Hansen.com can provide confidential advice on mergers & acquisitions, business start-up, product introductions, competitive assessments, private equity financings, and business exit.  A major roadblock from many private companies is their lack of adoption of AICPA Statement of Position (SOP) No. 97-2, Software Revenue Recognition.  Involving Hansen.com, early in your strategic planning process, could mean the difference between realizing a premium or a discount in setting a firm's valuation.

Prior to launching Hansen.com, Chuck Hansen was Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Hansen Information Technologies, Inc., which he sold to Infor Global and private equity firm Golden Gate Capital in June 2007. Limiting his efforts to commercial and philanthropic endeavors, Chuck became an early-stage investor in several companies, including an investment in social media company, Facebook. Earning his pilot's certificate, including instrument rating, Chuck also played baritone saxophone with various artists, including Eddy Money, Huey Lewis, Micky Dolenz ("The Monkees"), Mickey Thomas ("Starship"), Prairie Prince ("The Tubes"), Todd Rundgren, and Tower of Power.

Joined by his older brother, Scott, and an original Board member of Hansen Information Technologies, Chuck Hansen re-acquired the url, http://www.hansen.com, in 2011 to mark his return to the government IT market.
