Crane & Co. Wants to be Your Pen Pal

Popular stationery retailer announces a unique promotion celebrating the art of the handwritten letter

DALTON, Mass., Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --Crane & Co., a leading retailer of fine stationery and gifts recently announced the launch of their pen pal campaign. The company is inviting fellow letter writing enthusiasts to put down the mouse, pick up a pen and write them a letter. And in true pen pal fashion, they promise to write back.

"Though we have embraced the immediacy of email, there is nothing quite like a pen gliding over paper, recording the events, feelings and nuances from the week," says Crane & Co. blogger Jessica Sick. "And no inbox subject line comes close to the feeling one gets when sifting through the day's mail to find a personalized envelope."

At its core, Crane's call for pen pals is a social media campaign that leverages modern technology to promote the classic form of written correspondence. Their Facebook page will feature "letters of the day" and the hash tag #cranepenpals is being used on Twitter feeds.

To sweeten the experience, every pen pal will be entered in a contest to win an assortment of Crane & Co. paper and stationery products, including holiday photo cards just in time to kick-off the gift giving season.
