First Collaboration by the Smithsonian on a Video Game

SEATTLE, Feb. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Big Fish, the world's largest producer of casual games, collaborated with the Smithsonian on a history-based adventure game called Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamondbased on the Smithsonian Institution National Musuem of Natural History's Hope Diamond. First launched on the PC and Mac, the Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamond is now available for iOS devices. In this first collaboration by the Smithsonian on a video game, Big Fish worked with the world's largest museum and research complex to create the 6(th) installment of its popular Hidden Expedition® series, which has been downloaded more than 10 Million times.

The Hidden Expedition: The Smithsonian Hope Diamond has much in store for you. Your journey takes you from the Smithsonian Institution's iconic castle to the remotest jungle as you track down the missing shards and learn the secret of the Hope Diamond's fascinating history.

Working with the National Museum of Natural History, Jeff Post (the Smithsonian's curator of the National Gem and Mineral Collection), as well as game developer Eipix, Big Fish incorporated the facts and legends behind the Smithsonian's iconic Hope Diamond into this exciting hidden object adventure game.  In hidden object adventure games, players explore scenes and lands finding hidden objects within the scenes to help them progress, or solve puzzles to further advance in the game. Hidden Expedition: The Smithsonian Hope Diamond extends the Smithsonian experience into your own home and provides adventure and fun along the way.

The game also includes:

    --  Searching beautiful hidden object scenes that include accurate
        representations of the Smithsonian
    --  Hunting for 49 Smithsonian Institution symbols
    --  Collecting more than 20 Smithsonian History Fact Cards
    --  Finding 17 morphing items
    --  Earning 20 game achievements
    --  Playing a bonus game to undo the thieves' final legacy
    --  Replaying all the mini-games and Hidden Object puzzles through the bonus
        menu
