FlatFrog Announces @ InfoComm14: Palm Rejection Support and New Patent Award

LUND, Sweden, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

FlatFrog Laboratories AB, a leading provider of multi-touch systems, announced today
availability of industry leading palm rejection support for large touch solutions and
continued growth of its patent portfolio.

Palm rejection integrated with FlatFrog Touch

A well-known problem when using touch screens is registration of unintended touches
from users' palms when placed on larger touch surfaces like touch tables and tablets. This
causes false touches leading to poor user experience when typing, navigating or drawing on
the screen. In order to solve this problem, OEMs have to use very expensive active
digitizer and active stylus technology. FlatFrog can now deliver the same performance to
these OEMs without the need for additional active digitizer layers. This means that users
can have excellent touch performance using either their fingers or passive stylus while
resting their palms on the touch screen.

By offering palm rejection over its complete product range (currently 15" - 65"),
FlatFrog Touch continues to provide differentiated features for key customers.

    FlatFrog awarded key patent

The United States Patent and Trademark Office recently issued U.S. Patent No. US
8,686,974, "Touch-sensitive system and method for controlling the operation thereof," for
FlatFrog's optical In-Glass(TM) touch technology. This patent grant continues to develop
the patent protection in and around the underlying core technology.

As the primary innovator of the architecture of optical In-Glass(TM) touch, FlatFrog
has built up the industry's strongest IP position for high-performance, low-cost,
multi-touch panels with superior optical clarity. The company currently has a portfolio of
13 granted US patents and almost 40 granted patents worldwide, with more than 80 patent
application families still pending, all related to designing, building and deploying
optical In-Glass(TM) touch systems in touch screens of all sizes.

"FlatFrog's In-Glass(TM) touch technology continues to extend FlatFrog's leadership in
multi-touch with its latest palm rejection offering and we continue to aggressively
protect our technology and innovations with the necessary IP filings," said Dhwani Vyas,
CEO of FlatFrog. "Receiving this new patent further strengthens our IP portfolio that
provides a significant competitive advantage for us, our customers and our partners."
