Diablo Technologies Unveils Second-Generation Platform at Flash Memory Summit, Santa Clara

OTTAWA, Ontario, Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Diablo Technologies today announced Carbon(2), the second-generation of their award-winning Memory Channel Storage(TM) (MCS(TM)) platform. The company's latest memory-based architecture is purpose-built for seamless integration with the new, industry-standard DDR4 interface. Diablo's DDR4-compatible design complements its existing support for DDR3, and expands the reach of MCS to include next-generation server architectures. The Carbon(2) platform provides additional performance enhancements to further accelerate new software innovations, such as Diablo's NanoCommit(TM) technology.

"Memory Channel Storage DDR4 solutions represent the next evolution of Server Acceleration technology," said Riccardo Badalone, CEO and Co-founder of Diablo Technologies. "In addition to supporting a faster memory interface, the Carbon(2) platform delivers unprecedented levels of hardware acceleration for new software innovations like NanoCommit. Converged Memory, where the best of Flash and DRAM are combined, will rely on this type of technology to give applications the ability to transparently persist updates to main memory."

NanoCommit technology supports hundreds of millions of transactions per second, with nanosecond latency. The resulting combination of throughput and response time is completely unprecedented for flash-based memory devices. Available on the Carbon(2) platform, NanoCommit enables dramatic performance and scalability advantages for business-critical, enterprise applications.

The Carbon(2 )Reference Design Kit (RDK) will be available exclusively to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and solid-state drive (SSD) vendors in the first half of 2015 via the Diablo Carbon(2 )partner program. Carbon(2) is provided as a complete reference design, including a DDR4-compatible MCS chipset, firmware and device drivers for Microsoft Windows Server, VMware ESXi and popular distributions of Linux. Pricing and availability for the Carbon(2 )RDK can be obtained directly from Diablo Technologies.

"We've designed our MCS architecture to allow for new levels of flexibility and modularity. As a result, we've been able to quickly and seamlessly incorporate support for the DDR4 protocol," said Maher Amer, CTO at Diablo Technologies. "We are excited to expand the Memory Channel Storage portfolio and bring the next wave of game-changing technology to market."

Diablo is showcasing prototypes of Carbon(2 )and demonstrations of NanoCommit technology in booth No. 110 at Flash Memory Summit, August 5-7 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Calif.
