Huawei Drives Transformation of ICT Industry with the Vision "Open ROADS to a Better Connected World"
At Pre-MWC Analyst and Media Briefing, company unveils new initiatives and solutions for open ecosystem development
LONDON, Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- At its Pre-MWC Analyst and Media Briefing held today in London, Huawei unveiled its vision for the ICT industry - Open ROADS to a Better Connected World - and announced a line-up of innovative new ICT products and initiatives. As an industry-leading strategic partner for telecom operators, Huawei aims to help its customers thrive in a fully digitized world through the implementation of comprehensive ICT solutions towards the development of an open and healthy industry ecosystem.
"The rapid development of the mobile Internet has significantly changed user behaviors creating a new pattern of traffic consumption featuring five fundamental characteristics: Real-time, On-demand, All-online, DIY, and Social; or ROADS in short," said Mr. Ryan Ding, Executive Director of the Board and President of Products & Solutions, Huawei. "This new trend is driving transformations across industries, and the ICT sector, as an engine of the advancement and modernization of other industries, must pioneer the process. Specifically, this will involve the sector shifting away from its traditional self-centric 'network-operation-experience' mindset and prioritizing user experience for a new strategic approach, 'experience-operation-network', in order to effectively address the challenges posed by the mobile Internet."
During the briefing, Huawei introduced several new product offerings and initiatives that reinforce its commitment to embracing an open digital ecosystem, enabling ICT transformation, and evolving ultra-mobile broadband in the digital era. Key announcements included:
-- SoftCOM Openness & Cooperation Campaign: Huawei is committed to
transforming the telecom industry with its SoftCOM strategy, which
leverages network functions virtualization (NFV), software-defined
networking (SDN) and cloud computing technologies to foster networks
towards ICT convergence. With its open NFV/SDN labs serving as hubs and
connecting ICT innovation efforts around the globe, Huawei is a
proactive advocate of an open ecosystem and has partnered with standards
organizations, open source communities and businesses across the
industry to build an open ecosystem for the successful delivery of
optimal user experiences. During the briefing, Huawei shared the
progress it has achieved implementing SoftCOM and outlined its future
plans to collaborate with customers and partners to jointly advance the
ICT industry.
-- Business Enabling System (BES): Huawei's Business Enabling System will
help carriers accelerate digitization, creating a robust ecosystem that
facilitates open collaboration with partners to provide end-users with
enhanced services in massive quantities comprising all five ROADS
elements. It will also help carriers realize digital operation and
manage their businesses in a more agile and efficient manner.
-- 4.5G: A new concept and LTE brand introduced by Huawei, 4.5G aims to
promote innovation beyond LTE, deliver enhanced user experiences through
new, enriched services and more connected devices, and ultimately, help
carriers build business success and accelerate the industry's smooth
evolution towards 5G. At the briefing, Huawei unveiled new 4.5G
technologies that will boost cell capacity up to the Gbps level, and
support 100 times more connections per cell than LTE while reducing
end-to-end latency by 80%.
-- High-Throughput Router: In the era of FMC2.0 (FBB + MBB + Content),
video streaming featuring a smooth and superior user experience has
become an important component in the service portfolio of carriers. At
the briefing, Huawei introduced a new High-Throughput Router that can
minimize bandwidth shrinkage caused by delay and packet losses to
realize '0 wait time, no image defect, and no lag' in streaming 2K video
through mobile broadband, 4K ultra-HD video through fixed broadband, and
also optimal experiences in delivering other digital content.
-- FusionCloud Omni Solution: Huawei's FusionCloud Omni Solution is
tailored to address global carrier business demands for a public cloud
by fully enabling interoperation between heterogeneous private and
public clouds and serving as a hybrid cloud self-service system. The
hybrid cloud platform will also enable flexible deployment and smooth
migration of businesses and services.
With the challenges posed by the surge of data traffic coming from video streaming, the Internet of Things, and the variety of digital content now available to end-users, carriers, in order to offer the ROADS user experience, not only need to construct a future-oriented infrastructure that supports ultra-mobile broadband, but also enable ICT transformation driven by an Internet-based architecture. They also must strive towards creating a healthy and open industry ecosystem where all participants in the value chain collaborate and contribute. As an active player in the industry's overall advancement, Huawei continuously engages in partnerships with world-leading operators, industry organizations, and other third-party partners to promote the development, standardization and commercialization of cutting-edge information and communications technologies.
Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 will be held in Barcelona from March 2 to 5. Huawei will showcase its latest products and solutions at Fira Gran Via Hall 1 and Hall 3. For more information, please visit: http://www.huawei.com/minisite/mwc2015/preview/en/index.html.
