Goodbye Glasses: Introducing Smartphone Screens That Adjust To Your Vision

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Researchers at the University of California Berkeley have developed a technology which is generating quite the buzz. 20/20 Display Technologies, Inc. will soon be launching a disruptive product that will eliminate the need for eyewear when viewing electronic devices.

The company's CEO, David Worley, is excited about the market potential of this technology. He mentions, "Over 4 billion people worldwide suffer from impaired vision, many of whom experience difficulties using their mobile devices. This technology will enable consumers to view their cell phones, tablets, and computers without any additional visual aids."

This technology has been featured in high profile publications such as Computerworld, TechCrunch and PCWorld. In fact, Scientific American even called it, "one of the top 10 world changing inventions of 2014."

The technology is fully prototyped and tested to demonstrate that it can adjust device screens to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and higher order vision problems that cannot be corrected by eyeglasses or contacts.

How does it work?

Novel algorithms are used to adjust the screen's pixels. The pixels are calibrated to the user's prescription which creates a clear image on the display.

The company's Strategy Advisor, Corey Park, says, "This new technology is compatible with most of the devices that are currently owned. It's our goal to ensure that every person who struggles to use their smart phones, Kindles, tablets or desktops are able to function as efficiently as a person with 20/20 vision without relying on eyewear reading glasses."

Consumers will soon have a convenient alternative to eyewear which will enhance their viewing pleasure. This way users can simply pick up their favorite electronic device and begin reading immediately instead of wasting time tracking down their eye glasses.

20/20 Display Technologies Inc. is currently seeking individual investors and industry partners.
