Actiontec Brings Gigabit Speeds to the Home Theater with New Ethernet-to-Coax MoCA 2.0 Adapters

New ECB6000 and ECB6200 MoCA 2.0 adapters can reach up to Gigabit speeds over coax to offer an unparalleled IP video and gaming experience in the home

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Actiontec Electronics announced the availability of new MoCA 2.0 network adapters, designed to relieve the growing pressure on home Wi-Fi networks and deliver the best possible experience for HD video, online gaming and streaming media services.

The new MoCA 2.0 adapters, the ECB6000 and ECB6200, are coax to Ethernet bridges that offer a high-speed wired connection point for an HDTV, set top box, gaming console or other fixed Ethernet-enabled device. They provide an instant performance boost in the home theater to supplement the home's existing Wi-Fi network with high-speed wired connection points.

The ECB6200 supports the latest bonded MoCA 2.0 standard to support speeds over 1 Gbps. The ECB6000 supports MoCA 2.0 for speeds up to 670 Mbps. Actual speeds depend on the condition and noise found on the home's coaxial cabling.

The adapters give service providers and homeowners superior options for streaming HD-quality video to the HDTV in the home theater. With the rise of OTT services like Netflix, HBO Go OTT, and Amazon Prime, there's more pressure than ever before on the home Wi-Fi network. By leveraging MoCA technology and the home's existing coax infrastructure, the adapters bring wired Gigabit speeds without having to wire the home for Gigabit Ethernet.

"Home networking is rapidly evolving to the point where Gigabit speeds are needed and expected inside the home. Wi-Fi technology is capable of delivering these speeds, but as the number of connected devices and HD streaming increases, it's putting enormous pressure on the home Wi-Fi network," said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics.

"Adding a wired connection to the home theater ensures you will always get the best performance for your gaming console or HDTV. And by offloading that traffic from the home Wi-Fi, it ensures a better overall experience for your other devices," he added.

Actiontec's adapters automatically detect and join a service provider's MoCA network, requiring minimal user intervention. Most do-it-yourself consumers can complete the installation in less than 5 minutes.
