"With every invention, comes an innovation," says Tristan Wiener, CEO of Boltivate Technologies. "However, deadbolt locks have never had an innovation - they have remained the same since the original invention. We are here to innovate and create the best deadbolt lock in existence."
According to FBI crime data, 1.7 million burglaries were committed in 2014. While the number has been trending downward, it's still a relatively common crime - and one that property owners should be prepared for. Total losses from burglaries that year amounted to about $3.9 billion, an average of $2,251 per incident. Residences were the target in almost 3 out of 4 burglaries.
Boltivate works by attaching on top of existing deadbolts. By communicating with a home Wi-Fi network, the device creates a keyless and wireless entry system that can be operated from literally anywhere. No competitor technology offers this level of compatibility and versatility. The original lock does not need to be rekeyed, and no tools or expertise are required during installation. Once in place, residents can monitor, lock and unlock doors with the touch of a button on their smartphones. Doors can be locked or unlocked singly, or all at once.
With the Boltivate mobile app, homeowners have total control over all their Boltivate devices. They can quickly see the status of every door in the house and lock or unlock doors as needed. Expected visitors can easily be granted access to the home while the owner is away.
For security purposes, Boltivate's "Lockdown" feature offers unmatched peace of mind. When users activate this feature, every Boltivate device in the home locks simultaneously. If the system detects a connected door being disturbed - such as a burglar attempting a forced entry - the homeowner receives an instant notification on their mobile device. The app asks the user, "Are you safe?" The user can answer "Yes" to cancel the alarm; a "No" response will result in Boltivate contacting the nearest police department.
Boltivate is going the extra mile to ensure all customers get the most from its smart lock technologies. The company offers 24/7 live support via chat, phone or email. Customers who have spent more than $200 with Boltivate earn access to a dedicated support line with lower call volume and shorter wait times.
The goal of the Kickstarter campaign is to raise additional funds to finalize the physical production of Boltivate devices - designing and programming has already been completed. Contributions of just $35 qualifies supporters for the "Early Bird Special." This special offer, which includes a single device, is limited to just 25 backers. A variety of other perks are available. Boltivate Technologies anticipates shipping the first orders as soon as September 2016. The normal retail price will be $49, with optional add-on warranty plans.
Wiener and the Boltivate Technologies team expect the device make a big splash, given its combination of features and competitive price point. "Boltivate is simply better," he concludes. "Better pricing, better features, better range and better customer support are what set us apart from any other deadbolt security technology."
