DOVER, N.J., July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1980, Casio America, Inc.  came onto the music scene with its first electronic keyboard, the Casiotone CT-201.  This compact electronic keyboard could play sounds from various instruments and began Casio's development of technology rich features and advancements in electronic musical instruments. The first digital piano, the CPS-201, was introduced in 1986. In years to come, digital drum kits, digital wind instruments, and even digital guitars were introduced. Casio has continued to evolve not only as a musical instrument company, but as a company that is constantly at the forefront of technological advancements.

In September of 2015, Casio America, Inc. introduced the CELVIANO Grand Hybrid digital pianos; a revolutionary new line of digital pianos that recreate the piano experience through the convergence of acoustic and digital technologies. Casio's exclusive and innovative technology reproduces the subtle nuances of the world's finest grand pianos.

"Casio has always been a technology driven company, and our lineup of Grand Hybrid pianos brings new and innovative technologies to the market that greatly surpass conventional digital pianos," said Stephen Schmidt, Vice President of Casio's Electronic Musical Instrument Division. "The GP-500 and GP-300, as well as the newly launched GP-400, showcase Casio's commitment to producing high-quality products that consumers have come to know and expect."

Natural Grand Hammer Action Keyboard
Casio's pursuit of a keyboard with a touch like a grand piano's led to the development of a new keyboard system, the Natural Grand Hammer Action Keyboard. This unique technology includes full-length piano keys that use the same materials and processes as in C. Bechstein grand pianos. For the "Natural Grand Hammer Action" the weight and the mechanism of a Grand Piano were precisely recreated.  The CELVIANO Grand Hybrid pianos also boast a new original action mechanism developed by Casio that delivers authentic grand piano hammer movement, which has a big impact on the playing response of a grand piano. The mechanism conveys delicate finger nuances more accurately, and enables dynamic touch, allowing the pianist to play in a completely natural way.

AiR Grand Sound Source
Featured in all models within Casio's Grand Hybrid portfolio is the AiR Grand Sound Source, which faithfully recreates the same sound and reverberation like that of a grand piano. Even during a gradual crescendo, the technology allows even and natural tonal changes, while the String Resonance System, designed to deliver the string resonance of a grand piano, controls the amount and combination of resonance according to the playing situation. By producing reverberation that fits each of the 88 keys, the technology enables natural and comfortable performance. Every aspect, including Damper Resonance, Lid Simulation and Key Release Simulation, furthers the experience of a grand piano.

Grand Acoustic System
Furthermore, Casio has developed a Grand Acoustic System that generates a space of three-dimensional sound and represents the sound of a grand piano as it emanates from above and below the soundboard. Through careful positioning of six speakers and the creation of sound pathways, the system delivers three-dimensional sound with tonal elongation, expansion and depth. The multi-channel amplification system creates an immersive sound field like that of a 9-foot concert grand for both the player and audience. A special Headphone mode is even included to produce an ideal stereo image while playing or practicing quietly.

Authentic Grand Piano Sounds
Casio's CELVIANO Grand Hybrid digital pianos come with three historically popular grand piano sounds to give musicians a sound experience and level of authenticity that is not found in other digital pianos. It includes recreations of three legendary grand pianos, each with a rich history: the Berlin Grand, known for its elegant, clear sound and melodic color; the Hamburg Grand, which delivers gorgeous, versatile tone with evocative string resonance; and the Vienna Grand, which provides a stately and expressive sound with a wide tonal palette.

Concert Play
Celviano Grand Hybrid's Concert Play feature provides the ability to have accompaniment and expanded concert play. The sound system plays the orchestral part accompanying you. Works by Tchaikovsky, Pachelbel, Smetana and others are featured. The tempo can be slowed down to facilitate practice. Listening to and accompanying songs downloaded from the internet using ordinary USB flash memory is also possible.

The GP-400BK ($4,999), GP-300 ($3,999) and GP-500BP ($5,999) are available now at select music dealers nationwide. To learn more about Casio's full portfolio of electronic musical instruments including the CELVIANO line of digital pianos, please visit http://www.CasioMusicGear.com.
