Teleste at IBC 2016: Future Headend Services Migrate Beyond Video and TV Delivery

TURKU, Finland, September 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

    - At IBC2016 Teleste will showcase how open application development leads the way to a
broader range of headend services and technologies

Teleste Corporation, a leading provider of video and broadband technologies and
related services, announced today that at IBC2016 it will showcase how utilizing the
Teleste Luminato headend platform and open application development can help operators
rethink their headend services and build broader, more targeted offering for their
customers. IBC2016 will take place in Amsterdam RAI, 9-13 September and you will find
Teleste at stand 5.C72.

"Delivering smart video and TV services will maintain their position at the core of
headend development, but in the future, also another types of headend services and
technologies will evolve, driven by the diversifying needs of consumers as well as
individual service providers and operators", said Julius Tikkanen, Vice President of Video
Service Platforms for Teleste. "Introducing open application development to our Luminato
headend, Teleste has made it possible for operators to outline and implement solutions
that best benefit them and their customers already today. We are pleased to highlight
these possibilities at IBC2016 and showcase to you e.g. Hibox Smartroom, a hotel service
hub designed by our partner Hibox Systems."

Teleste Luminato enables smart hotel services for Hibox Smartroom

Hibox Systems is a global provider of advanced interactive information and
entertainment solutions for consumers and commercial applications. Utilizing the Teleste
Luminato application module for open application development, the company has brought a
new online TV solution to the market, called Hibox Smartroom
[http://www.hibox.tv/Hotel-TV-Platform.shtml ], which is designed for hotels with smart
TVs.

In addition to being a modern TV system for smart TVs, the Hibox Smartroom allows
hotel operators to provide premium guest Wi-Fi for hotel visitors, monetize Internet
traffic, trigger and display emergency messages and sounds, and even manage and follow up
cleaning and maintenance activities in hotels.

"Our vision is to help hotel operators add value to their brand, share information, as
well as save time and money while creating a delightful experience for hotel guests", told
Mathias Johnson, Product Manager of Hospitality for Hibox. "Deploying Teleste's Luminato
headend has given us the possibility to provide our customers with a solution that meets
the needs of the industry, and creates added value by e.g. convenient and compact
installation and eco-friendliness."

Running on the Luminato application module, the Hibox Smartroom does not need any
additional PC servers on the headend. The space-saving solution allows hotel operators to
reduce the number of hardware needed at the premises, and also the environment benefits
from the lower energy consumption and less need for cooling.

Utilizing the application module also makes it very easy and reliable to update smart
TVs. Traditionally, it has been necessary to run updates on each TV set from the
manufacturer's server separately; now, making the updates significantly smoother, updates
will first be downloaded to the Luminato headend from where they can be installed to all
hotel TVs in one go.
