MultiTech Debuts IoT SocketModem Cell for 4G-LTE Cat 1

New Variant of Top-Selling End Platform Modem Ideally Suited for Long Lifetime, Lower Bandwidth IoT Applications

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. a leading global manufacturer of M2M and IoT devices, today announced a 4G-LTE Cat 1 version of its award winning SocketModem® Cell, the industry's top-selling operator certified, embedded, end platform modem. The new device offers peak upload data rates of up to 5 Mbps and download data rates of up to 10 Mbp and is ideally suited for long lifetime IoT applications that require lower data rates (2G replacement) as well as and battery- or solar-operated devices.

The new LTE Cat 1 device will be available for connectivity to Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile as well as Canadian operators. Shipping in volume November 2016, samples are available now for qualified customer projects. The SocketModem Cell is a complete, ready-to-integrate, high availability embedded device offering 4G-LTE, 3G-HSPA+, , Wi-Fi, GSM, CDMA and now LTE Cat 1 functionality. These quick-to-market communications devices allow developers to add wireless communication to products with high reuse of hardware footprint, software integration and certifications, thereby minimizing development time and expense. The SocketModem Cell modems are based on industry-standard open interfaces and use MultiTech's Universal Socket design.
