Will this season ever end? Fri Sep 23, 2005 9:18:02 PM#13400Perm Link
My big question...Will I become homeless? Hurricane Rita is moving towards Galveston as I type, I live 30 minutes north, in League City. Right now my family and I are living with my Aunt, Uncle and their kids in Round Rock, it is fun here, but I am afraid that everything will be gone when I get back to LC. I'm currently paying for school too, and that is in Texas City...if that is gone, all of the money I used for college, is wasted. And I'm sick of everyone badmouthing evacuees, me and my sister left during volunteer evacuation, not mandatory, we had no trouble at all getting out of Houston, those anyone should be badmouthing are those who stay and break into peoples homes and the snipers, but lucky enough we haven't had much crime yet, there was some looting but basically everyone is out of there. And now New Orleans is flooded again, but that was expected...why wouldn't they wait until hurricane season is over to fix the levvies?
I wouldn't mind moving here, the place is easy to get around and there are a lot of nice people here. There are also about 5 colleges down the road.
I hope everything works out...I'm so scared.
Getting back in the cities is only a problem because almost everyone tried to go back today and they weren't supposed to because of the power outages, there's no food, no water and no gasoline...my family and I are not leaving Round Rock until Monday, my college doesn't open until Wednesday, so why not enjoy the vacation time while we're still here for a few days?
We didn't get flooded, but we are afraid that that huge tree in our backyard landed on our house, it is a possibility. We won't know until Monday night or Tuesday morning.
Thanks you guys for caring. We're home now, and the only thing that happened was our refrigerator broke, and that's a good thing, because it was way past it's death date.
