Seagate buys out Maxtor

Is this going to mean anything significant to Seagate? The two hard drive companies I trust the most are Seagate and Western Digital. Will the purchase affect Western Digital at all?

I posted about this about 50 mins ago. Yes, with one less HDD maker, prices may go up.

Great!...not...all this means is another bunch of bad drives from one company instead of multiple. I've had a few Maxtors crash here lately, just like the IBM drives crashing trend was a few years back before they were taken over by Hitachi...

I've found that the newer Hitachi drives are better than the IBM counterparts.

Maxtor = crap. End of story.
