Thumbs up Laptops for around $500 Old Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:29:15 PM #13801 Perm Link
I was reading this article in Decembers issue of PC World about laptops for 500 bucks then i started to read more into it because im looking into buying a laptop in the near future and dont really want to spend too much dinero ( yeah im kinda tight with my money) so i started comparing the available 3 laptops(in that price range) from Acer, Dell and HP and the the one that really caught my attention was the Laptop from Acer

Aspire 3003LCi
1.8 Ghz Sempron 300+
512MB Mem
60 G HD
15 inch screen
integrated WI-FI
DVD-ROM/CD-RW
USB 2
one PC card slot
Batery life 1:19
i gues it will be good enough for the average everyday computing needs i will keep looking around and get the most bang out of my buck....

:-P

I've seen some Black Friday ads that have some laptops for like $300. Look around next week Wink.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Acer laptops are alright. I sell them all the time.

I would recommend saving up to get the Aspire 1692WLMi. It has tons more features and it won't be a paperweight in 2 years like a $500 laptop would.

Yeah, but I don't know if I would keep a cheap laptop for much more than 2 years. I was actually thinking of getting a mac, never had one. You should check them out maybe, Baldeagle.

While Macs work admirably, and will last for ever, the simple fact that they are Macs prevents them from being used properly. I have a G4 with OS 10, and it runs far faster and smoother than either of my Windows rigs, but the problem is that, other than making multimedia stuff, you can't do anything with it.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

Whenever I'm looking for any type of deal or anything, I always check FatWallet or Slickdeals:
http://www.fatwallet.com/c/18/
http://forums.slickdeals.net/f9-hot-deals.html?

Since the holidays are about to end, you could try again in January. There doesn't seem to be any good laptop deals listed on those forums, right now.

It's looks good to me. Right now I'm searching for a desktop that is around $300-$600.
