Well, I have had the constant problem of trying to keep all my digital photos blocked up, and I saw ina flyer, you can get portable hard drives pretty cheap. I thought it'd be a great idea to grab one on boxing day, but I have no idea as to what kind or brand, or etc. I think I would probably need a 60 GB+, cause I don't wanna be running outta space, so far I have about 10gb of photos, and thats been about a year.

As for removable hard drives, I haven't seen too many of them die. I can't make a good judgement call on brands, but I'd get Seagate or WD anyway.

I also suggest to take the time to backup to DVD as well. Remember that removable hard drives... are hard drives. They die, DVDs should hold up for a bit longer.

You could probably find some cheap external hard drive cases, and from there, you can buy a reputable hard drive(Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi, etc.) to put inside of the external hd case.
You can check the following for some hard drive deals:

Listen to Aron, he knows his stuff. External hard drives are like a girlfriend when you're in high school: more trouble than they're worth.

I suggest getting a Memorex or another good brand drive. Any current DVDRW drive will support everything from DVD+-R to Double Layer RW whatever.

I have a question about double layer writing... What kind of dvds do you use, because there is - and + right?

+ is usually available in faster formats, and burns faster. - is less so. I suppose you could say, they have their plusses and minuses.

Have you ever danced with a doile around a fire while chanting south american rhytyms and smoking a peyote pipe?

It is really fun
