I hate Intel. My system decides to start overheating... the CPU was at 100 C. I check the system and the heatsink is popped off! POPPED OFF! Image a server and this happens.

It is so difficult to get these stupid Prescott type heatsinks to lock in place. Either that, or the heatsink clips are broken. I need to really inspect it now. Intel, you just lost a customer. I'm buying AMD for my next build even if they are a bit more expensive.

They have to come up with a better way to set those heatsinks up. I don't know what possessed them to make those that way to begin with.

Conroe changes the retention clips right?

Those Prescott heatsinks are crap.

They suck harder if they didn't.

Anyway, I fixed the heatsink and hopefully it won't be popping off again.

Wow..I thought you all were big Intel fans which is why I have kept quiet on the subject.

I've used Intel once and never will again. I use AMD exclusively and have never had a processor overheat, die or anything in the 8 years I have been a faithful user of AMD processors.

AMD more expensive? No way.
I've always paid less for my AMD processors and have gotten the same performance if not better than Intel chips..according to benchmarks.

At this point, I agree about the price of AMD...

In the past, I ment the cost of entry. The Athlon X2 line was very expensive compared to the cheaper Pentium D line. Granted, the X2 technology and CPU were far better... but still.

true..but like you said..."but still"
However, today, hands down AMD is better for the money and performance.

Once you go AMD you'll never go..wait or is it... Buy AMD buy a ...wait..oh screw it.

Since the price drops on the Athlon X2, this is the dual core CPU to buy. The Pentium D sucks and Conroe isn't out in full force.

I've always been partial to AMD because they were the underdog. But they really do make a quality product. I'm looking forward to new ATI products now that AMD has aquired them.

I would like to break the fingers of the lazy good for nothing sadistic MF'er who designed those CPU fans. There are plenty of OEM fans out there that will work iwth those moterboard that will screw down to a retention plate under the motherboard so it cant fall off and you dont have to worry about fans radomly falling off, fumbling with and inevitably breading those stupid clips etc

Till this Day I only use AMD I can only remember building a system (only 1 in all my years) for a friend and that was when P4 was first introduced before Hyper Thread Tech was introduced, I tried to convince him to go with AMD but he wanted P4
I’m not anti Intel I just prefer AMD and i never had a problem with their CPUs
