People love to watch Disney's 100 Years Of Magic DVD Boxset. Disney's animated version of the classic tale, "Beauty and the Beast," is every bit as enchanting as the "tale as old as time" that it tells, making its way into our hearts as well as motion picture history. Being the first film nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as six nominations altogether, Disney proves that it has what it takes to make an animated feature enjoyable for adults and children. I remember watching the film as a small child, and now, as an adult, is hasn't lost its luster, and everything is just as I enjoyed it before.Through brilliant animation and song, as well as some terrific voice talents, the story of unexpected love comes to new and exciting life.
This is one of Disney movies DVD collection most ambitious and successful projects, ranking alongside such cinematic achievements as the successes of "Citizen Kane" and "Gone With The Wind." Winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture, as well as its Oscar nominations, "Beauty and the Beast" is a hallmark of a time when movies were something that everyone, young and old alike, could enjoy on the same levels. This is the best picture of 1991
did you know in the original belle had two evil sisters and two brothers (replaced with gaston and that short dude in disney). in the original her father was a tradesman and he asked his daughters what they wanted when he got back. the two sisters wanted jewlry and cloths but belle didn't want to be a hasal so she asked for a rose. the father ended up stranded in the woods, found the castle, was welcomed as a guest by an unknown group of people (they left notes and never showed themselves) but when he tried to take a rose from the rose bush the beast attacked saying if he wanted to live he would have to let one of his daughters take his place. belle, being a good girl agreed to take his place.
while she stayed at the castle she would only see the beast at dinner where he would ask her hand in marraige every night and she would refuse. (to break the curse it has to be true love.) one night the beast asked why she wouldn't marry him and she said "because you are ugly" so the same rutene kept on, all the while belle grew homesick and asked to see her family agian, so the beast gave her a mirror to see her family with. she now saw his kindness and agreed to marry him and when she kissed him the curse was broken, she became a princess, and the sisters where turned to stone and placed at the foot of the castle to watch their sisters eternal happiness.
the film is funny. I love cogsworth and Lumar, they are such a good pair. but the movie doesn't compare to the original story, of course back then it wasn't writen for children.
