Do any of you watch this show? It is, again, reality but I think it is an excellent look at the dark world of addiction and how many people are involved. I just love it when you get a good update at the end. I think it is a well done show. Just wondering if anyone else here watches it!
I don't know why, but watching it gives me a really uncomfortable feeling, like I'm getting way too personal a glimpse of someone else's life. I'm also not sure it's such a good idea to broadcast such a difficult and intimate moment in a person's life. Certainly if I had to decide to go to treatment for substance abuse, I wouldn't want millions of people watching me struggle with it. Just my opinion.
You need to sign a consent form in order to be shown on TV, so it's their choice whether or not they want it publicized. I reckon there's a sizable reward for doing so, too.
Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?
I saw 3 episodes when I was in New York few weeks ago, and I was really fascinated by it too. I think it is hard for the people around the addicts to see that! I have never dealt with that in my life, at least not close friends or family.
Precisely WHY it should be on TV. Addiction isn't just about the addict, but the family too. Addiction isn't seen as a disease in our society, for the most part, and it is. And the show shows that addiction hits all types of families and makes a taboo subject more open, which leads to more healing.
I guess someone who is addicted to Television, will NOT be the subject for a TV show about addiction! LOL! Much less an intervention. Still, I think it is a pretty interesting show. Wish they showed that here!

It's also pretty helpful and informative. I saw one ep with a really, really smart guy who had seen the show and new the intervention was coming.
I keep forgetting when it is on. I caught an episode last week and it is a very good show. You're right it can be quite helpful and informative. I have been through an intervention for my cousin and it is in no way fun that's for sure. He is doing great now though.
Did anyone watch this past Friday night's episode? The one about the former chef in 4-star restaurants? (he cooked for all of the past 3 presidents) It was *really* good, and for some reason this is a person that I really liked. I am always rooting for the addict to become sober, but this guy really affected me. I was almost in tears when I read how long he's been sober and that he and his girlfriend are trying to work things out. He gained 70lbs since his intervention! He was skin and bones, but is looking so great now.
I just love this show. And, I think it is good to show the worst parts because it is a TRUE glimpse into the world of addiction.
