»Switching Carriers For iPhone

If anyone is waiting on a huge line for this iPhone, you are stupid. Wait till the device is cheaper.

Quote

"I do have trepidation about switching from Verizon to AT&T, but I figure Steve Jobs wouldn't have made the deal if he couldn't back it up," she said. "Verizon has one of the largest networks, but AT&T has the iPhone." The 36-year-old, who owns a graphic design business with her husband, said she needs the iPhone for e-mailing, Web access, and sending and receiving files--all functions she could easily do with another device like a Treo or BlackBerry, which are already sold through Verizon Wireless. But as a Mac user for more than a decade, she admits she is drawn to anything created by Apple and Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

I wonder how many people are running out to buy an iPhone at the price it is now? Will the response be great enough that eventually the price can go down?

I will not be one of the people running out to get the iPhone. Just way to exspensive for me to buy and then find out it might not be what it is hyped up to be.

Who is surprised that the effect of the PS3 is repeating itself in the iPhone? I'm not.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

I'm sure it's going to be a great phone, but I'm not exactly in a rush to get yet another cell phone. I really just don't have enough of the need for one to wait for it. If the price drops (probably in a year) then perhaps. I have T-Mobile now. I used to have Cingular. The coverage was better with Cingular, but when I had to call because of a problem the phone service was absolutely terrible.

"I knew it. I'm surrounded by a$$holes!"

I really don't like the fact that you have to keep one carrier to use the phone. I am understanding that right? I am just not to keen on that at all.

If its any consolation, AT&T is the largest U.S. carrier, I believe.

In any case, while I could easily justify the price of the iPhone by itself, it would mean I would have to pay my cell phone bill. Even if I was to replace my 6-year-old Samsung with, say a Palm Treo 700wx, I still wouldn't have to pay the phone bill.

Maybe he is getting at that once he bought the iPhone he would still have to pay the carrier money to use the phone? I am guessing really not to sure.

The plans that go alone with the iPhone are outrageous. I think the cheapest is 50-something dollars, not including taxes and fees. And that's just the bare bones plan...I heard that the highest plan is somewhere around $130 a month.

I don't pay my phone bill. As long as I use Verizon, no matter how stupidly advanced of a phone I get, my parents foot the bill.

I was wondering what the prices would be a month. I kind of figured that they would get you there. That's what I don't like they pretty much have you over the barrel on this one if you want one.

Someone at work decided to go in later in the day and pick up an iPhone... turns out they have tons of inventory and he had no wait to get one...
