Anyone have any relaxation techniques? Wed Nov 28, 2007 6:06:39 PM#45117Perm Link
I have lots of pent up energy after taking the relatively easy fall semester finals, History and Math were my last ones, and I finished at approximately 12:27 P.M. Central Time, now I am FREEEE!!! till january 7th of course, and I still have to pay rent...twice...and I have to register for spring classes. Now about those relaxation techniques post your favorites and I will try them as I get to them, currently I'm working on the paper bag one, where you breathe in and out, it aint working and the noise is making me even more insane...
Dude im always soo hyper i can't stand it
Just run all over the place and scream and yell till your too tried to talk
It might take awhile or just listen to music and drown everything out
So get off the computer so i can dominate the post board!!!
lol
OK, ill try the second one as the first one may get me followers, which is a bad thing, everyone i know is REALLY tense right now and still trying to relax,
Breathing never helps me i just go crazy and run around the room
lol =)
Though it does help because if i stop ill die
though i would be relaxed forever... lol
Damn Sev your done finals ALREADY?! Lucky, finals dont start till next week for me, unfortunately...I DID however already registered for my spring courses. ANYWAY so you wanna relax, eh? What ALWAYS relaxes me is a nice hot POT of Japanese green tea and jasmine tea by ITO EN. If you can find that brand of tea then you will be in relaxation heaven!! if you cant then you'll just be nice and relaxed...Trust me there is a BIG difference! XD good luck!
i relax by looking out on the 3rd level of my school looking at los angeles and another i like to relax to is soothing and hopeful pictures of lower manhattan (like my avatar) the ones of the World Trade Center make me a bit sad but they're still very nice to look at the only pictures i have for wallpapers is ones of spectacular views of los angeles and lower manhattan ^-^ (sigh~~~~~)
breath in with ur nose and breath out with ur mouth then say then grass is green and the sky is blue i think LOL i seen it on the next Karate kid movie
I do!
I know sometimes when I get uber-stressed, i'll take several deep breaths (through my nose- thats how you're supposed to breath anyways so that way your nostril hairs have the chance to filter the air better for you) and exhale out of my mouth (this is clean air leaving your mouth).
I do this at least 5-10 times and I feel better...
Also, i've heard a long time ago if you take your left thumb and press gently against that flap of skin between your right thumb and right index finger, its actually supposed to calm you down and take away headaches (perhaps a pressure point in some form of fashion)- i'm not 100% sure about this one but I used to try it and it worked good on me.
Also, stretching the body is probably one of the best...
1. Just sit on the floor and stretch your legs out...roll your torso down as close to the knees as possible
2. Sit back up and twist your trunk from left to right gently (if you don't you'll pull something)
3. Take your right arm and lift it up to the sky, fingers pointing straight out, bend arm at the elbow to the point where the hand is resting on that space between the shoulder and the neck. Take left hand and push gently on elbow. Repeat on other side
4. Kneel on your knees and sit your behind on the backs of your legs....take whole torso all the way to arms and roll forward until your face is on the floor and your arms are stretched in front of you...
Yep, usually that does it to me. Any form of stretching, done especially gently, results in plenty of relaxation because it leaves the body slightly limber and it increases blood flow to all extremities that are stretched....add that to some mediation and you probably couldn't be more relaxed if you tried...Also i'm a big fan of homeopathic medicine....Whole foods and many other stores (local asian markets in your town) do have a number of homeopathic medicines- they aren't regulated by the FDA in most cases, but, they are made of all natural ingredients...so its definitely better for you than pure acetaminophen.
That name [of the park] is relaxing...
Its like a word that just smacks you in the face and knocks you out stone cold...
or maybe i'm just sleepy...
it looks like a "snow day" outside....
I love to read a good book that i've been anxious about for a while or go to a park also and have a picnic with very good food and pass out on the blanket looking at the sky...Darn it easy to relax me....tsk tsk
You could try meditating; it’s a daily practice for me.
Sit on the floor, best to do it crossed legged because you might be there for awhile and you don't want your legs to fall asleep.
Let your arms hang, or rest them on your knees.
Breath very deeply, in and count to 4 and out to the count of 4.
Try to clear out your mind and make it empty.
Then, when you're relaxed and ready focus in your mind.
Tell yourself that you're not going to worry over this,
And that you're not going to stress about it.
Tell yourself firmly until you feel that you've gotten the message through to yourself.
(If you are familiar enough with positive and negative energies then you should know well enough how to cleanse out your bodies impurities. I won’t go into detail here because it’s not absolutely necessary.)
When you’re finished you can slow your breathing back and open your eyes.
Try having some green tea afterwards. Chai tea or tension tamer also works.
Try not to put too much sugar in it also.
I think I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time
I think I've forgotten this before. . .
I usually do one of these three things when I want to unwind or think things through in a relaxed manner: I will clean, crochet, or walk. All of these things are done with either my mp3 player and head phones or the stereo on.
