Do some research. It was the Soviet Union who had missles pointed at us. Not to mention we tried to kill him because he didn't want America take their oil and abusing there workers. So America tried to assassinate him with the operation Bay of Pigs.
yep thats well and true but he slaughtered us in the bay of pigs
they could have objected to the ussr
they also closed their borders to America even though his citizens wished to leave
but i admit i didn't know about the oil
He slaughtered the people from the Bay of Pigs because they were, i donno, out to kill him? As would America would do if anyone screwed with them. They would be labeled as terriorists. But of course, we are upstanding people who never do anything wrong? XD!
Because of Fidel Castro, Cuba now has a 98% literacy rate. It is the only "third world" (In American terms) country with an effective free healthcare system, also known as socialized healthcare. It is fully ethnic integrated, as in, all ethnic groups live together equally. As well, woman and men both have exceedingly equal opportunities thanks to Fidel's aggressive feminist campaign. Also, it is one of the only third world countries with a socialized public education system that is open for all of it's population.
Because of Fidel's socialist progression, a country that was once plagued by gang violence, an oppressive and corrupt government, and other capitalistic crimes, has transformed into an advanced and unified nation. He's accomplished this, eventhough an economic embargo has been placed on the country by the United States.
Fidel has done all that he has promised to the best he could. He's given the Cuban masses education, healthcare, equality, work, and freedom from exploiters.
Do some research. We have too, as America, Oppressed and killed our own people, blacklisting and many many other terrible things.
This oppression is greatly exaggerated by the United States government, and other capitalistic sources. But such so-called "oppression" is simply increased regulation, to defeat certain things that were practically harming the population's progression. For example, those who openly supported harmful religions which in essence creates religious competition and prejudice (Such as preists, and religious propagandists), those who openly continued the flow of capitalism (Business men, beaurocrats), those who lived lavish lives based on the flow of capitalism (Aristocrats, and the upper classes), those who promoted racism and sexism (Nationalists, and conservatives), and otherwise anti-Communist opponents.
If you were to ask a former-aristocrat how they felt about the new socialist Cuba, they would tell you that they were "being oppressed." If you were to ask a worker, or someone of a formerly "lowly" group, they would respond that they've never been better.
Communism is of the workers, and for the workers. The upper class minority who hold 90% of the wealth, but take up only 5% of the population, are of course going to suffer.
Those who wish to hold onto religion, racism, sexism, conservatism, etc. etc., are of course going to suffer.
He sided up with the USSR because of the whole Bay of Pigs incident, not like your going to want to make an ally with someone who just tried to assassinate you.
And Oil and other natural resources are all over Cuba.
