I say no.

What's with this 'no blows to the head' crap? That's the most effective way.
Get those braincells moving.

I'm indifferent. Though children should be legally permitted to retaliate in any way they deem fit if spanking is legal. No double standards. =P

But seriously, I don't see a problem either way.

It's WAAAAAY better than strapping with a belt.

Though, how you punish your children is really your business (kind of like, 'what you do in your bedroom is your business'). Unless it seriously physically or psychologically damages the kid, then something should be done. Spanking doesn't fit under the SERIOUS physical/mental harm category, just a red-ass-for-a-few-minutes category.

Depends. Spanking is fine. But spanking to the point that the child's ass is bleeding is not. No tools, 'cause what kinda wuss are you to beat an unarmed child? However, I think that if you're gonna 'cause any physical harm to your child, you sohuld expect them to fight back. =P Hell, if an authority figure tried to hit me now-a-days....Imma hurt them

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

Yeah, but, it wouldn't be a good idea to beat up a police officer. Then again, you shouldn't be doing anything where they'll have to beat you down. And Most police officers don't beat up innocent bystanders...unless you're black and live in the deep south.

Ooooh! Good fun! I have a new insult!

An English friend told me if I'm ever in England to never say that to a police officer because it would piss them off. Then again, it's not like they can pull a pistol out on you.

Heh-heh...stupid clubs...

I think that saying anything that's beyond the intellectual scope of a retarded eight year old will probably piss a copper off. What they lack in intelligence and discernment however, they make up for in manpower, CS spray (the English alternative to Mace&#153), a biased judicial system and a rehabilitation program that involves brutal beatings and sodomy.

In that respect, everywhere's kind of the same.

Why spank a child when you can yank their teeth out with a pair of pliers instead? That would get their attention much better than spanking. Wouldn't it???

LUm... Spanking hurts, I know that, but who in the right mind would want to hurt their kid. Most parents love their children unconditionally, right?

That made absoulutley no sense to me...

Spanking is used as discipline. I'm confused as to why you are confused?
Parents don't spank their children for kicks.

Well, parents hit their kids for a number of reasons. The foremost being physical superiority. The rest of the reasons, in no particular order are: Stress Relief, Natural Aggression, Establishing Dominance (y'know, cos those kids hurt your inflated ego! You can't be having with that!) and Discipline. As far as these go, discipline is pretty much a byproduct. From a humanistic perspective, spanking is the only way to go, but it seems stupid for parents to lie about their motives. 'Tis natural.

Moral of the story: When you have kids and people ask you why you hit them, say, "Cos I wanted to smack the little fucker(s) and see them cower in submission because I feel their undeveloped minds chose and pursued a course of action that was an affront to my authority in some way. None of that hippy 'let them walk all over you' bullshit."

Hitting with a belt seems pretty sick and twisted to me. I mean, you're basically using a weapon against your own child, how can that NOT stop you from hitting them? That doesn't make any sense in my opinion.
I was never really hit as when I was little. Maybe it had something to do with my mom having a bad upbringing, so she didn't want to do any of that.
Eh, I just find it strange that anyone would find it normal that their parents hit them with a belt as punishment. Ugh...*cringe*
