Nero probelm turned into BIG ASS PROBLEM

As you all may know i recently have been having difficulty trying to burn an AVI file to a DVD (nerovision express). It doesnt work, keeps coming up with the eroor message of unable to transcode. I thought updating the firmware to my DVD burner would help. Guess what. Turns out I cant even update my damn recorder. I tried downloading ASPI files since Windows doesnt come with it(never knew that) tired to see if the updated would recognize my drive finally....NOPE it didnt. The PC DOES see my burner but the flash update doesnt. any suggestions on what I should do?

What kind of burner is it?

Have you attempted to uninstall the Nero, then try to run the drivers for the song DVD? then Install Nero and it might see it? It seemed you went and tried to Do Install Nero, then update, because you didn't know the DVD needed it. That is my only suggestion/ Question to ask is, Have you tried to see if it can play DVD's?

Unable to transcode does not sound like a Burner problem. Sounds more like a Software issue.

Do a google search for AVI to DVD. You need to get that AVI into .IFO, .VOS and .BUP file types that are easily burned in DVD mode in Nero.
