This takes place about seventy years after the events of Naruto: Shippuden. You can make a character if you want! (Please PM the character to me, first, though)
The story will focus mainly on Team 5.
I will be posting pics of them as the story goes on, instead of putting them up right now. M stands for male and F stands for female (of course), the numbers are their age. The teams that say “Not yet important” are the teams that you can make characters for. But right now I only want Team 2 and 9 filled. Once those two are filled we can move onto the next ones. You can make more than one character

History: Kagayaku is a failure at the academy. He can barely throw a kunai, let alone use his chakra to its full extent. But when it comes to spirit, Kagayaku reigns as the champion. Even though the village looks down at him like a weakling, and someone who should have never been accepted into the academy, he is as nice as can be. Kagayaku is the one to grin and bear it; even if he holds someone else’s weight on his shoulders he will gladly remain proud. He was given the name Kaga-Baka at the academy.

History: Gumura is a popular figure in the academy, and even the teacher admires his skill. His Dark Release makes him a difficult opponent, even against those of a higher level. Gumura thinks of Kagayaku as being a weak link in the Leaf village and with one wink link then everything will fall apart. So, basically, Gumura tries to act like Kagayaku doesn’t even exist. But Kagayaku is still as friendly as can be towards his entire team.

(Here is the beginning; please tell me what you think XD)
Kagayaku couldn’t be late to the academy, definitely not again. Last time it was because an old woman needed someone to carry her bags to her home. This time would be from Kagayaku finding a little boy’s kitten. He managed to snatch the critter out of the tree before it could pounce away. Now Kagayaku finds himself speeding down the streets of his village. Kagayaku could feel his feet begin to drag as he rushes through Konoha. His breathing picks up when he increases the pace.
“I’m almost there!” Kagayaku grins, spotting the building only a couple of feet ahead. He could still see Sakana standing in the open doorway. But he is starting to close the door. Once it is fully shut then a student is considered late. Kagayaku panics, throwing his arms into the air and shouting. “WAAAIIITTTT!” Sakana seems to be ignoring him, though. Today is the most important day, too. It’s the day of the test to pass the academy. Being late for such an event would be terrible!
Then, Kagayaku lunges. He soars through the air, the wind ruffling through his white hair. A smile forms on Kagayaku’s face. He is going to make it. With a loud SMACK Kagayaku’s face collides with the door, and he slides down it. Kagayaku yowls in pain, grasping onto his face and rolling around on the ground. Quickly, Kagayaku shakes off the pain, though his face had a large red mark on it. He goes to open the door, but it doesn’t budge. He stands there, and tries multiple times. But each attempt fails.
“No no no no no. This can’t be happening.” Kagayaku says under his breath, still trying to get the door to at least move a bit. He decides to look inside through the window, seeing that the test has already started. Kagayaku drops to the dirt flooring, releasing a heavy sigh. “Of course this would happen to me.” He sobs. After a moment of crying to himself, Kagayaku regains composure and gets back up to his feet. His smile returns as he forms his right hand into a fist and pounds it into his left palm. “I got it! This must be my test.” He laughs, with his hands now on his waist.
Kagayaku whirls around to face the door once more. He pulls out a kunai and takes a couple of steps back. “Alright door, you’re going down!” Kagayaku yells, pointing the kunai at it. But…there is no response from the inanimate object. He charges at full speed, holding the kunai forward. His plan is to slice the door down with one powerful swipe. If it fails, then Kagayaku would keep at it until there was nothing left of the academy’s entrance. Before he can even hit the door, it strikes him and sends him hurdling into the nearby tree. The world spins around Kagayaku, who blinks repeatedly to get his vision back to normal. Everything is upside down, though. Kagayaku realizes why, and then pushes off of the trunk and onto his stomach. He gets to his feet, and grumbles. “That door is quite the formidable opponent.”
When he turns to glare, his eyes meet Sakana’s. “S-S-Sakana-sensei!” Kagayaku gasps, scrambling to get into a respectful position. He bows once, and then twice. Kagayaku isn’t able to again, as Sakana had stepped forward and placed his hand on Kagayaku’s shoulder. Kagayaku laughs under his breath, nervously, as Sakana scowls down at him.
“Why were you attacking the door?” Sakana wonders aloud, his voice harsh. Kagayaku replies with his more energetic one: “Well, you see, I…I uh…my apologies sensei. But once again I am late and was locked out.”
Sakana takes a minute to answer. He exhales quietly, in disappointment, but Kagayaku’s sharp ears pick it up. This causes his shoulders to slouch, and Sakana walks back into the academy and students start filing out. Kagayaku stands as a median for the students, who all act like he carries some terrible plague and avoid any contact with him. But he can hear them speaking. Saying mean things. Terrible things. About him…
Kagayaku is the last one to leave the area, his head bowed and his heart a hundred pounds heavier in his chest. He returns to his home, near the center of the village, but his mother is not there. She must be out on another mission. Kagayaku lifts his head up, and balls his hands into tight fists. “I’m not going to let something like this get me down.” Then, he charges out of his house.
Laughter follows him as he runs through the warm village. Students are standing outside and showing their new headbands off to friends and families alike. They are all genin now. Kagayaku is the only student left. But each and every one of their mocking laughs added onto his speed.
He makes it to the nearest training grounds, panting just the slightest. Kagayaku’s eyes rest on Konoha’s memorial. He presses his palm against it and smiles, tracing his finger along some of the lettering. He knew exactly where his grandpa’s name was. “I will train harder for next year. Then I will never have to worry about being late because my speed will be beyond anyone else’s. I know it!” Kagayaku grins brightly as the sun blares down, making his turquoise eyes glow. No. That’s not what caused his optics to illuminate. It was pure confidence.
Kagayaku pulls out six kunai, holding three in each hand. He throws one group, and they miss the targets that are placed on numerous trees. Kagayaku tries his other hand. But those, too, just fly right past their marks and into the shadows of the miniature forest. He takes two, deep, breaths and closes his eyes. The fresh air soothed the burning in his lungs. Kagayaku retrieves his kunai, and then returns to his spot and keeps at it. After the tenth try, four of the kunai hit inside of the target. But none of them are near the bulls eye.
“Hey Kaga-Baka, what are you doing on my territory?” A rough voice growls from behind him. Kagayaku turns around to face Ichirou Inuzuka, a chuunin. Kagayaku blinks multiple times as he looks at Ichirou. His voice is lost for a second. When he finds it, it comes out as an unwilling laugh.
Ichirou didn’t seem pleased by Kagayaku’s reply; neither did Shadow– his dog partner. Ichirou’s brown hair rises slightly as he crouches down, and Shadow becomes a black blur against the blue sky. Kagayaku didn’t have time to react, and he is knocked onto his back by the small canine.
(Ichirou Inuzuka and Shadow: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/102/8/6/inuzuka_bellion___commission_by_toppera_tpr-d3du3pp.jpg )
Before the dog can bite his face off, Kagayaku rolls to his right and the dog topples the opposite direction. Kagayaku swiftly slides up to his feet and stands, waving his arms in front of his face. “Hey, I’m sorry. I didn’t know this was your guyses territory, okay? I’ll leave.”
But Kagayaku isn’t given the chance, and Ichirou throws multiple kunai. Kagayaku dodges them in a comical way, and he instantly runs off.
“Get back here Kaga-Baka! I’m not doing showing you whose boss!” Ichirou calls after him, and Shadow barks in agreement.
Kagayaku is trying to hide in the small forest. He spots the river, and heads towards it. What he doesn’t expect is to find one of his classmates, Doresu Inuzuka, giving her dog, Shina, a bath in the river. Kagayaku lets out a sharp gasp and jumps. Maybe she wouldn’t notice, as her back is turned to him.
(Doresu Inuzuka and Shina: http://th08.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2011/094/7/7/inuzuka_takara__my_version__by_dereismann-d3d8u92.jpg http://dooom.wikispaces.com/file/view/gaku_dog.png/30524838/gaku_dog.png - one on the right, with a missing leg)
Shina’s ears perk up and her nose twitches, and Doresu glances over her shoulder. She goes back to washing Shina. Suddenly, she freezes, and looks back again. “Kaga-Baka!? What are you doing here!? My brother will kill you for being around here!” Doresu hisses between her teeth. Kagayaku is standing at the edge of the river, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Yeah, about that. Your brother is sort of after me right now.” He states, his voice shaking a bit. As if on cue, Ichirou’s angry voice can be heard. “KAGA-BAKA! I’VE GOT YOUR SCENT!” Kagayaku yelps, flailing a bit and then diving into the water. He scurries over to stand on the other side of Doresu, hoping she would help him.
“H-hey!” Doresu shouts, one of her eyebrows twitching. “Get away from her you idiot! Don’t spread your crummy strength about in my waters.” Kagayaku apologizes and leaves the river. He stands, water dripping off of him and plummeting to the grass below.
Ichirou appears, on the other side of the river. Shadow is snarling, and in a pouncing pose. Doresu looks at her brother as she strokes her fingers through Shina’s fur. “Kaga-Baka isn’t worth your time.” She tells him, placing a hand on her hip. Her brother relaxes a bit, but not before releasing one last snort of disgust. “But if he dares to enter my territory again, then I will destroy him.”
With a shrug, Doresu replies. “Go ahead.” And Kagayaku gulps. Doresu looks at Kagayaku and says, “That would probably be your chance to go while you can. Oh, and if you weren’t already aware, you missed the test. And tomorrow we get our teams. Sakana-sensei says you can come and watch when the teams are decided.” And she watches as Kagayaku gets to his feet and brushes grass away from his soaking clothes. He does give her a nod, a grin, and a generous thanks before sprinting away.
(A while later)
Kagayaku is sitting on top of one of the Hokage’s heads, overlooking the entire village. Stars dot the dark blue skies like thousands of fireflies. He had always been fascinated with space. Does it ever end? Or is it truly boundless?
“Sakana told me.” A familiar voice sounds from beside him. Kagayaku is startled to find the Hokage sitting next to him.
“Even if Sakana hadn’t, you would have gotten word from someone. Things like that spread quickly.” Kagayaku chuckles, scratching his head. The Hokage also laughs, and he pats Kagayaku on the shoulder. Kagayaku was in shock. No one liked to touch him out of fear that they would become just as weak as he is. He didn’t think the Hokage would even dare to.
With a smile directed towards Kagayaku, the Hokage questions. “So what are you doing out here Kagayaku?” It was weird…he wasn’t used to hearing his name coming from anyone else but his mother.
“Just stargazing.” Kagayaku answers, almost sheepishly. But he was proud.
“Stargazing? Don’t get too many people who do that these days.” The Hokage rubs a finger against his chin as he thinks.
It was Kagayaku’s turn. “So, what about you?”
“Same as you I suppose.” The Hokage responds, giving Kagayaku a playful nudge. Kagayaku couldn’t help but laugh, he was too happy. Someone was actually interacting with him, like he is a human being.
“May I ask why you gaze at these wonders of the world?” The Hokage wonders aloud, now looking up at the distant scenery. He then stares out at his village, smiling.
There is a moment of silence before Kagayaku laughs. “You’re going to think it’s stupid.”
“Try me.” The Hokage replies, folding his arms over his chest.
Exhaling, Kagayaku throws himself back and sprawls out on the massive rock. He has his eyes shut for a second, and when he opens them the stars seemed even brighter than before. A calming breeze shifts through, tickling Kagayaku’s skin and bringing forth miniature goose bumps. “They call out to me.”
The Hokage arches an eyebrow and glances over at Kagayaku, whose eyes were once again closed. “Call out to you?”
Kagayaku gives a subtle nod. “I am falling while I would rather rise. Soaring while I would rather fly. Sinking while I would rather float…but there is a voice that will constantly retort… ‘it is impossible”.
Again, the Hokage gives Kagayaku a questioning look. He continues. “Those are the words that the stars say to me every single time. I’m not all too sure what it means. There’s this gut feeling I get, that they are talking about me. Because it is all true. No matter how much I strive to reach the top, I cannot.”
“Think positive and you will get to the point of champion. Think negative and forever you will remain in last place. There is no power greater than the belief in oneself.” The Hokage says, as if he had just recited it from a book. But it all came from his intellectual mind. Kagayaku stares at the Hokage for a while. But the Hokage’s full attention is on the overhead stars. A big grin forms on Kagayaku’s face, and he holds a hand out to the distant moon, and closes his fingers around it.
-The Next Day-
Kagayaku sits in the academy, completely ignored. He didn’t care, though. He was just there to watch everyone get their teams. He was sad, of course, because Kagayaku had always wanted a team of his own. He listens as names get called along with team numbers and their designated sensei. Kagayaku leans back in his spot, resting his feet on the desk in front of him. He was at the top row, in the corner and away from everyone else. But he never used his advantage of where he sits to take naps, like most others would. Kagayaku listens to all of the lessons and intently watches every demonstration.
His heart skips a beat as a familiar name is said. Kagayaku’s eyes widen as the team’s names are repeated. “Team Five! Gumura Tanoshiku, Shiawase Ningyo and Kagayaku Keisatsukan. I shall be your sensei. But just because I have been in class with you three for a couple of months now, doesn’t mean I shall go easy on you.” His eyes are cold as they rest only on Kagayaku. But Kagayaku looks right past Sakana and jumps up and onto the desk top.
Kagayaku couldn’t help himself. He throws his arms into the air and lets out a howl of joy. “YES YES YES!” He shouts at the top of his lungs, throwing his head back and then doing a little dance. He freezes and the room goes silent. Kagayaku clears his throat and takes his seat. “Sorry.” He snickers. Sakana pulls something out of the desk drawer and throws it at Kagayaku, who barely catches it out of the air. He holds the headband with wide, watering, eyes.
Gumura and Shiawase look at Sakana in complete surprise. But Sakana doesn’t even acknowledge their expressions; he just sighs, and fixes his glasses.
But how? How did he pass the academy when he hadn’t even taken the test?
(A while later)
The other kids leave the academy building to go meet their squad leaders, but Team Five stays where they are. Kagayaku leaps down from his spot at the top row, and onto the lower one, to be closer to Gumura and Shiawase. Sakana is sitting on his desk, rubbing his fingers on the sheathed blade at his side.
Gumura and Shiawase avoid any eye contact with the grinning Kagayaku. Before Sakana can begin, Gumura blurts out. “What the hell Sakana? How did Kagayaku pass the academy?” He is on his feet, fists at his sides. Shiawase can be seen nodding in agreement, with her arms folded over her chest and nose up slightly. But Kagayaku’s expression is unfaltering as he sits and smiles brightly.
“If this were a training session you would have been punished for speaking to me in such a way.” Sakana scolds. He admired his students, but even if his favorites were to talk like that towards him…it just would not be accepted.
“My apologies sensei.” Gumura’s voice is hushed. He takes his seat.
“Now that we’ve gotten that straight, let’s begin with introductions.” Sakana sighs, stroking his fingers through long hair.
Shiawase raises her hand, like one would do in class. Gumura gestures for her to speak, and she does so. “But we already know each other.”
Sakana smiles, an empty smile. No one else but Kagayaku seemed to notice that, though. Sakana gives a quiet laugh before answering Shiawase. “We do. But not like a squad should know one another. None of us have talked about our inspirations or aspirations. Our family or friends. We may know our names and our levels of skill, but not the more interesting things.” He adds a shrug. “Alright, so how about we start with you Shiawase.”
The girl beams, her white teeth blaring with the sunlight that enters through the nearby window. “Okay. So, as you boys already know, my name is Shiawase Ningyo. My parents live together and are as happy as can be. I have two other siblings, both of whom are older and passed the chuunin exams two years ago. I love my brothers like crazy, though. They are the ones who got me interested in flowers.” She giggles. “I suppose I do have a couple of goals. For example, I want to be the most well-known medical nin in Konoha.”
“That’s great!” Kagayaku gives Shiawase a thumbs up. She just rolls her eyes.
Sakana looks at Gumura, indicating it is his turn. Gumura begins with a grumble to himself. “I am Gumura Tanoshiku. My father and mother are both off on missions with the other jounin of the village. I have a lot of friends, both inside and outside of Konoha. My dream is to become the greatest swordsman in the village. Even better than you, Sakana-sensei.”
“Wow! That’s amazing!” Kagayaku states in awe, his eyes sparkling as he claps his hands together.
“Shut up Kaga-Baka.” Gumura and Shiawase growl. He does as he is told.
“It’s your turn Kaga-Ba-I mean Kagayaku.” Sakana corrects himself.
Kagayaku leaps onto the desk, like he had done earlier. “Alright! I am Kagayaku Keisatsukan! But I guess most know me as Kaga-Baka.” He has his hands on his hips and gives a hearty laugh. “My dad died during an Anbu mission when I was three years old, so now I just have my mom. But, that’s okay because she is awesome. Otherwise, I don’t have a whole lot of friends. Actually, I’m not really sure if I have any for that matter. Not a whole lot of people like me. But no matter what, I will make a difference in this world!”
Silence hangs there, and then explodes with laughter that comes from Gumura and Shiawase. Kagayaku stands and blinks once, and then twice. Suddenly, he joins in, and almost falls down as he is laughing so hard.
Sakana releases a heavy sigh and pinches the bridge of his nose. “That’s enough.” He barks at them. The silence returns, and all three of the kids apologize in unison. Sakana adds. “There is nothing about me that you must know, besides the fact that I am Sakana Hoteru, the man who is now leader of the fifth genin squad. We shall begin training tomorrow, as soon as the sun rises. Don’t be late.” Once again, his eyes rest on Kagayaku, who nervously chuckles and rubs the back of his neck.
“Can do sensei.” Kagayaku smiles.
"Good. That is all for today. Now leave." Sakana commands, getting to his feet. Kagayaku, Gumura, and Shiawase all exit the academy and go separate directions.
