Who actually uses? I've been considering buying the drive for it, but is it really worth it?
Hmm.
I suppose for people who download DVD-RIPS through the internet, but other than that I see no other practical use for it. Unless you make back up copies of your current DVDs. So thoughts, comments, suggestions?

I want to get it because my dad got a free subscription to netflicks...and it's fucking awesome. unlimited amount of dvd's, sent to you in the mail, 3 dvds out at a time.

But if you get the DVDs, why would you need the drive? Just to make copies?

I have a DVD-R, and I don't really use it very often. My friend gave me some Naruto episodes (an Animé), but a DVD-R wasn't required. Basically, if you have a DVD player or a PS2 or an XBox with a remote, you don't need this. As far as I know (which isn't too terribly far), it doesn't do anything other than play DVDs (and do everything a CD-R did)

ahhh but it can copy DVD's like a cdr copies cd's. It's a whole different ballgame.

I don't think a DVD-R can burn the other formats (regular cd's) because it's a different laser used to read the disc.

Yeah, as far as I know you need two seperate drives to do that. Which is fine, but I'm just wondering if it's really worth it.

if you burn a lot of movies, then yes. If the contrary, then no.

That's what i've gathered so far.

You CAN burn DVD movies to multiple CD-Rs, i have a few right here. It just takes longer...and requires more steps then just copy.

I have two +RW drives and use them daily for backups of my hard drives.

On one DVD I can hold many images of my computers' hard drives. And then all I need to do is pop the disk in and get the right image and there ya go.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Yes, it does. Pieces of hardware tend to get price tags on them, I'm not sure why, though.
