wireless router to use in home

hi. plz recomend some wirles router to use in home. i m considering linksys wrt54gs and linksys wrt54gr.. i want to know wich one is better and work well in a home with brick walls...theres no rivew on web about wrt54gr...

Belkin N Wireless Modem Router would be my best bet and it's relatively cheap (NZ$146 at http://www.notebookcity.co.nz) and it incorporates the new 'n' wireless technology which means longer ranges (and yes even through brick walls). I've kinda gone off LinkSys and also the Belkin products just look more modern and styly

For the most part, depending on your total area of your accommodation, you can easily snag a wireless G router and be fine, getting a pretty decent signal throughout the house. Issue is, most of this reviews for routers and specifications are on the normal, American household. AKA, wood and drywall, rather than bricks. Nevertheless, I have faith that it should still work well.

You don't need wireless N if you're not planning to send big files or HD videos across your network. Gamers can also benefit from the extra bandwith. Sadly, if you get a wireless N network and have all wireless G devices (like me), the network will slow down to the lowest component. This doesn't mean it'll skimp on performance and you'll get a terrible reception, but it's just not what it could be.

I personally use a D-Link DIR-625 wireless N router, which I really like. For the past 7 years, I've been using a basic, Linksys WRT54G router. It's been solid, but recently it started to waver in performance and range, so I bought a new one. I also live in a 3500 sq. ft. house and had solid reception everywhere, so that might answer that issue for you.

If you're looking for a bang for buck unit, I'd say buy a higher end G router. The ones that have MIMO or say like RangeBooster or Super G. The Linksys WRT110 is a good model that's not a basic G router, but has a bit more range and speed. I'd say that's a good spot.

Wireless N is NOT necessarily better range. It is mainly for more bandwidth. The bottom line for best range is either a range booster of a router with a very good antenna system. If I remember correctly, Wireless B had the best range of all when comparing same routers with same antennas(wireless G, or N)

I don't believe that. Wireless N networks (on good routers) have a much higher range than both B and G routers.

G has a better range than B and N has a better range than G...

N isn't a ratified standard just yet, though.

N uses MIMO (multiple in, multiple out) for longer range and better throughput.

That's why I said "NOT NECESSARILY." The bottom line for good/best range is a good Antenna or repeater or range extender. Does not matter if it is G, N, B or whatever in the end.
I've got a friend who has a Belkin wireless router in his house and a repeater in his barn about 150 ft away. His neighbor who is over 900 feet away can get his signal just fine. HArd to believe but it is true.
