i know they don't it would just be beter if they could run faster my favirote olace would have to be the hospital to
monster: pyramid head
charecter: didn't realy pick
you get shot up on the block
and robed in your home
this is what happens when bad meets evil
pyramid head is one of the best ¦D
but leonard needs more love too! not everyone can live in the sewers XD
the hospital, the sewers or the hotel are my fave places....even if they make me want to throw something at the screen..... the church is ok..... creeps me out tho....
i laugh at how pyramid is acctually helping james though, it makes it seem like he's trying to kill him but he's just leading him to the right way.....
Old thread but whatever, Silent Hill is my fandom, I'm replying anyway
I've played Silent Hill 1, 2, 3, 4, Origins, Homecoming, Shattered Memories, bits of the Silent Hill Play Novel, and the Silent Hill Experience (although that's not really a game).
I've seen the movie (hell, I eagerly awaited the arrival of the movie for years...), have mixed feelings about it. Eagerly await the sequel even though I worry it'll make me angry XD
I've read the terrible comic spin-off Dying Inside, not going to bother reading the rest of the comics. I've also read the fan-translated Book of Lost Memories (http://translatedmemories.com/)
Favorite game for its story is a near tie between Silent Hill 2 and Shattered Memories. Favorite game for gameplay is handsdown Silent Hill 3 (although maybe this is because it was the first Silent Hill game I ever played!). Least favorite of the games is Homecoming because its terrible (it has some good things about it but its flaws far outweigh any positive.)
The movie has excellent atmosphere, visuals, and monsters but its plot and plot execution make me seethe with fan-rage.
Now I'm going to bore you by recounting my favorite everything.
Favorite character is Claudia Wolf, who is not only my favorite Silent Hill character but one of my favorite fictional characters, period.
SH1 - Michael Kaufmann
SH2 - Angela Orosco and Eddie Dombrowski
SH3 - Claudia Wolf
SH4 - Richard Braintree
Origins - Travis Grady
Homecoming - Noone >:|
Shattered Memories - Harry Mason
Movie - Cybil Bennett
Favorite monster is a tough one, I like pretty much all of them from 1-3 and most from 4. In terms of design, you can't go wrong with the iconic Pyramid Head even though he's heavily over-used without any understand of the original meaning and purpose of the character. Less obvious answers, largely based on design and meaning rather than how they were in the actual game:
SH1 - Grey Child
SH2 - Lying Figure (sometimes called Patient Demon)
SH3 - Closer
SH4 - The One Truth, or Twin Victims, since the One Truth is a weird boss-thing.
Origins - Remnant
Homecoming - I'm actually largely unimpressed with the monsters from this game, although the bosses have fairly interesting designs they largely do not have that Silent Hill-feel to them.
Movie - The movie's version of the Grey Child
Favorite locations
SH1 - Midwich Elementary School
SH2 - Brookhaven hospital and the Blue Creek Apartments
SH3 - Brookhaven and the mall
SH4 - the apartments
Origins - the sanitarium
Homecoming - the church
Shattered Memories - Midwich High School
aaaand I was going to recount my favorite puzzles, songs, endings, etc but I think I've went on too long as it is!
Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?
ugh i hated shattered memories e_o
like when he gets a knife for a momentum i was like " harry! you idiot! stab the bloody things!" Dx
i agree with the overuse of pyramid head but he is quite essential to the game plots after all.
it's like saying how badly james wanted to punish himself for killing his wife so he made an alternate reality where he could be punished.
claudia is awesome <3 but i'd slap her for all her talk of god and stuff e_e.
alessa in the movie was probably my fave.
because even though you had this sweet girl who played sharon, it felt really odd.
but when she played dark alessa you really saw her in her role.
and when we were playing origiins my friend and i ( because we play the games together XD ) were all like " WHY CAN'T YOU BE MORE LIKE TRAVIS AND PICK UP THINGS?!" with other characters in the other games....
although shattered memories was quite good the running scenes were quite annoying especially if you didn't use a flare at the right time.
leonard gets sorely overlooked sadly.
although he was a monster you have to wonder if it's just heather/cheryl seeing him this way- and if it is, why because she knows nothing about him - or if something really is happening in an alternate reality and he slowly mutated this way based upon her and claudias actions throughout.
nothing good EVER happens at the hospital Dx
i can't wait for the sequal to the film to come out though because apparently vincent will be in it |D although the actor who plays him doesn't do him justice according to my friend :/
Shattered Memories gameplay isn't all that great, I admit. The running doesn't bother me (although I did not like having to flail around to get the monsters off Harry) so much, I like the fact that you don't fight but the game is extremely short and extremely linear. The puzzles are all manual puzzles too, which annoyed me because I'm a fan of the riddles in 1-3 (and for whatever reason they won't bring the riddles back :\)
Well, Pyramid Head is not essential to the central plot of the Silent Hill games, he's only important in Silent Hill 2 as a manifestation of James' guilt and desire to punish himself. The games imply that Pyramid Head's appearance is based upon old executioners (and game design wise he WAS based partially on old executioners) , either from the town's general history or that of the cult's. Unfortunately people mistook this to mean Pyramid Head is some sort of town judge and completely misunderstand the purpose he served in SH2. I don't think its too far-fetched for someone else to have seen Pyramid Head but the context in which he has been shown have been very clear "hey look its Pyramid Head!" which give the impression that he doesn't have a purpose and when he's not dogging after James he's just wandering aimlessly around the town.
I could go on and on about this because its probably my biggest pet peeve XD
Leonard is also one of my favorite characters, actually. But yeah, Vincent implies that there aren't actually monsters ("They look like monsters to you?") and Silent Hill 2 had already shown that different people see Silent Hill differently. For example, during the Abstract Daddy fight towards the end of the same, James seems a monster, Angela quite clearly sees her father. Angela also comments that "for me, its always like this" when James meets her on the burning staircase. But I don't think we're intended to get a real answer on whether or not the things of Silent Hill actually exist.
Anyway, Heather may know nothing about Leonard, but Alessa certainly would. Leonard was Claudia's father and Vincent describes him as physically abuse and angry and Claudia admits to hating him. Alessa was Claudia's best friend, no doubt she'd be aware of Leonard's cruelty and perhaps that shaped the way Heather saw him.
Silent Hill: Revelation seems like it will be a rough translation of the events of Silent Hill 3 into the already established movie canon the first movie set up. Heather, Vincent, Claudia, and Leonard are all confirmed for it. Vincent does look very off but I'm reserving judgement until I can see how the character is written. I've seen nothing on how Claudia and Leonard look or how they'll act but their actors (Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell) do inspires some confidence, whereas I've never seen Vincent's actor before so I have nothing to base my opinion of him on.
Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?
