Kolibree Connected Electric Toothbrush to Show at CES 2015, First of its Kind with 3D Motion Sensors & Interactive Feedback
Kolibree Toothbrush to Exhibit at CES & Showstoppers Media Event; Innovative Connected Device to Ship This Month
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Kolibree, a company dedicated to connected innovative solutions to keep you healthy and smart, announced that they will exhibit the Kolibree connected electric toothbrush, their first commercially available product at the SANDS Convention Center all week - Booth #74737 -- and at the Showstoppers Media Event on the evening of January 6, at the Wynn Hotel, Booth #A1.
Kolibree is the only connected electric toothbrush on the market that gives you real-time feedback using its 3D sensors (9 axis), and built in accelerometer, gyrometer and magnetometer. Kolibree's proprietary technology knows whether you've effectively reached every zone of your mouth and statistically what areas you have missed.
How it Works:
Once you brush your teeth, feedback on how well you've brushed goes directly to your smartphone via Bluetooth and the data is stored in an individual profile - you can also store countless people's brushing habits on one smartphone, making it motivating for the whole family.
The data can be kept private or shared with your dentist. "What's great about the Kolibree toothbrush, for a dentist who focuses on children's dental care, is that I can see how well they're doing and can coach them on where to improve. For patients who have just had dental surgery, I can even recommend which vibration is the most effective one based on the condition of their mouth," said Holly Hasegawa, DDS, MS, Co-Founder and Advisor of Kolibree.
The toothbrush has built in sophisticated sensors and spatial analysis which not only records where the brush is in your mouth but also understands how to collect and decipher that data so that it becomes truly useful for both users and dentists.
"Imagine having a GPS device in your mouth that tells you where the toothbrush has been effective and where it hasn't," said Thomas Serval, CEO and Co-Founder of Kolibree. "Unlike anything else that exists today, Kolibree gives you real time feedback so you can brush better next time. And, because the vibration is softer than most other solutions, it doesn't harm your gums, making it an ideal choice for kids and seniors alike."
Interactive Apps:
Pirates is the answer to the biggest challenge parents and dentists have - motivating their kids to brush for two minutes without getting bored. The game, which was developed using the open Kolibree SDK, rewards kids with coins when they brush correctly and spend enough time at each location of their mouth. After a series of brushings, parents and dentists have access to an interactive map showing the over and under brushed areas, data that can be used to help kids improve.
Kolibree Coach is a brushing app that tracks brushing movement and location and alerts you of your brushing accuracy in real time using a green or red halo, all while allowing your favorite music to play in the background. It makes the once boring two minute brushing time fun and engaging. The app is the first of its kind to not only analyze the movement like many 3D motion sensors can but detect the location of the brush in your mouth. It can be customized by dentists who can coach their patients where to spend more time in neglected areas and program a lighter vibration after surgery. Rewards are given for progress and the whole family can participate and even...compete.
Dentegra Collaboration
Through a collaboration with Dentegra Insurance Company, which focuses on providing affordable dental care for individuals and groups, users who sign up for the Dentegra Smile Club have the opportunity to purchase a Kolibree toothbrush at a significant discount and earn rewards and incentives for brushing properly. Once certain brushing milestones are met, members can earn points redeemable for a cleaning and checkup from a Dentegra network dentist. The Dentegra discount plan will not be an insurance program.
Open API
Kolibree offers an open API for iPhone and Android, which means that developers now have access to the most advanced dental tracking device on the market. The SDK also offers access to the Kolibree dental professional platform linking dentists to patients and to the rewards system, which further enhances the brushing experience.
Lightweight & Ergonomic
The Kolibree toothbrush is much lighter than most electric toothbrushes on the market making it an ideal choice for family use. Its smaller brush heads make it easier to navigate in tougher to reach areas of the mouth. The vibration is based on Sonic technology and is softer than many of the harsher vibrations of other brushes, making it a safer alternative for kids, seniors and those who have had surgery.
Availability:
The Kolibree connected electric toothbrush will start shipping in the U.S. this month and in Europe later in Q1 2015. It is priced at $199 retail. Those who sign up for the Dentegra Smile Club will receive a discount on the toothbrush and can receive discounts from Dentegra network dentists. The Dentegra Smile Club is slated for launch in San Francisco and Austin in Q1 2015. For more information, visit http://www.dentegrasmileclub.com.

AKG brings the world's first headphone with personalized sound. Inspired by Quincy Jones.
New technology is a game changer for headphone industry
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CES 2015 -- HARMAN, the premium global audio, infotainment and enterprise automation group (NYSE: HAR), is proud to announce AKG N90Q, the world's first headphone with personalized sound - designed by legendary Grammy winner Quincy Jones.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Harman over the past five years, and I am very excited to add the AKG N90Q to my signature line of headphones," said Quincy Jones. "There are only 12 notes, and no matter what genre of music you are enjoying, whether it be Jazz, R&B, Pop, Rock or Classical, I believe the enhanced experience provided by the AKG N90Q will offer the listener such exact sound and customization that you will believe you are in a professional recording studio." Quincy's daughter, Kidada Jones, an established designer for Disney, was also very involved in the creation of the N90Q. She helped establish the overall aesthetic, selected key materials to deliver a premium look & feel, and ensured the product not only met, but exceeded Quincy's expectations.
HARMAN's expertise in signal processing, psychoacoustics and headphone ergonomics, combined with the finely tuned ears of the most lauded producers of all-time, has resulted in a true industry first. The N90Q, featuring TruNote technology, automatically and precisely reproduces sound optimized to the user's anatomy
TruNote technology is composed of a new, proprietary software solution for auto-calibration and frequency response measurement in combination with a patented, dual-foam ear cushion and pistonic motion driver. The auto-calibration solution uses two microphones in each ear cup in order to measure the frequency response while you are wearing the headphone. This generates an accurate correction filter, all within a second. The dual-foam ear cushion and optimized pistonic motion driver are required to avoid unwanted reflections and cavity effects, deeming both necessary for the optimal accurate sound reproduction. This groundbreaking new technology can be experienced at CES, where HARMAN will showcase the AKG N90Q auto-calibrating, noise-canceling headphones.
In addition to TruNote, Quincy ensured that the N90Q leverage the latest noise-cancelling and sound customization technology in order to optimize the audio experience to the listener's taste. A subtle and continuous adjustment of the bass and treble level ensures sound reproduction remains undistorted. The AKG N90Q will be available for sale in summer 2015. Other headphones that feature TruNote technology will become available later this year.

Announcing the KODAK IM5 Smartphone: Simplifying the Smartphone Experience
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Iconic photography brand Kodak and specialist mobile device manufacturer Bullitt Group today announced the launch of the Kodak IM5 smartphone (IM5), a 5" HD Android smartphone that is as easy to use as it is smart.
Its simple, intuitive user interface offers quick and easy access to key functions such as calling, messaging, camera and contacts. Advanced remote management software also allows trusted friends and family to provide help if needed via a PC or tablet.
As you'd expect from Kodak, imaging is central to the phone's appeal and the IM5 makes taking, storing, sharing and printing photos quick and simple. The 13MP auto-focus main camera comes with unique image management software that, at the touch of a button, lets users quickly edit photographs and either display them on the device, share on social media or print using a customized app compatible with home printers as well as future printing and sharing services.
Says Oliver Schulte, CEO of Bullitt Mobile: "This is a phone for consumers who appreciate the value and heritage of the Kodak brand. It looks great, is easy to use and offers real value for money."
The desire for simplicity however doesn't mean a sacrifice on speed and performance. Running Android OS (Kit-Kat which will be upgraded to Lollipop) this octa-core 1.7Ghz is expandable to 32GB via a Micro SD card. It also comes with a dedicated app store (called simply "Apps") that offers users quick and easy access to a hand-picked selection of applications suited to their interests (there is also full access to Google Play).
Aimed at consumers who want a smartphone that is easier to use than what they are currently using (or being offered), the IM5 serves a market segment that - to date - has been poorly served by handset manufacturers.
Adds Eileen Murphy, VP Brand Licensing at Kodak: "Too many memories stay stuck on mobile phones, often because the process for sharing them is too complicated for users; that's why we've partnered on the IM5, the first device in a range of mobile products that takes our heritage and experience in photographic technology and combines it with Bullitt's expertise in designing high-quality devices for a specific target consumer."

Alongside the Compact and Versatile Nikon D5500, Nikon Announces the Expansion of Legendary NIKKOR Lens Lineup with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II Zoom and AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Telephoto Lenses
MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Nikon Inc. announced its latest DX-format DSLR, the Nikon D5500, a lightweight yet powerful camera that offers a robust feature set, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and the ability to capture incredible photos and HD video with ease. An ideal entry-level DSLR for the creative photographer ready to take their storytelling to a new level, the D5500 sports an impressive arsenal of imaging technology, including a 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor with no optical low-pass filter (OLPF) and a new 3.2-inch Vari-angle touch operation LCD display. All of this and more is packed into a new monocoque design that makes the camera one of Nikon's lightest and most convenient-to-carry DSLR offerings. Nikon has also expanded its already impressive line of NIKKOR lenses with two new additions, the versatile AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II zoom lens for DX-format shooters and the FX-format AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR, a lens with advanced Phase Fresnel optics for lightweight super-telephoto performance.
"Whether capturing an unforgettable sunset or the game winning goal, the Nikon D5500 was designed to foster creativity and provide the tools any budding photographer needs to easily capture and share amazing images and HD video," said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. "Additionally, the new DX-format 55-200mm and FX-format 300mm f/4 lenses reaffirm Nikon's steadfast commitment to expanding the NIKKOR lens lineup with versatile additions for both DX and FX-format DSLR shooters."
Tell a Story with Breathtaking Quality
The Nikon D5500 makes no sacrifices when it comes to image quality, featuring a 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor capable of rendering amazingly sharp and tonally-rich images and HD video. The removal of the sensor's OLPF allows for an impressive level of detail and sharpness from an affordable DSLR, while the addition of the EXPEED 4 image processing engine works to improve overall speed and performance in a variety of shooting situations. When shooting in low-light, D5500 users can also take advantage of an expanded wide-ranging ISO spanning 100-25,600, which makes it easy to capture great images, even when available light is scarce. Alongside Nikon's impressive arsenal of NIKKOR lenses, the Nikon D5500 is a powerful imaging tool capable of incredible image quality, whether shooting flattering portraits or stunning HD video.
Compact, Portable and Ready to Share
When the perfect moment is ready to be captured, having a camera that is ready to go anywhere is essential. One of Nikon's smallest-ever DSLR offerings, the Nikon D5500 is compact (4.9 x 3.8 x 2.8 in.) and surprisingly lightweight (14.8 oz.), making it the ideal DSLR for users constantly on-the-go. Ergonomically designed, the camera also features a new monocoque structural skin that increases durability without weighing it down, while allowing the user to securely and comfortably hand-hold.
Nikon Snapbridge describes the experience of quickly and easily sending photos wirelessly from your Wi-Fi®(1) enabled Nikon DSLR, Nikon 1 or COOLPIX camera to a compatible smartphone or tablet for times when a great moment is captured and ready to be shared. The D5500 sports built-in Wi-Fi that allows the user to easily share high-quality images with friends. Simply shoot, tag and share great moments with the quality they deserve. Additionally, users can utilize their smart devices to shoot remotely - ensuring that even the photographer doesn't have to miss out on the next group photo.
Capture and Create with a Touch of Class
The Nikon D5500 also offers the ultimate in DSLR control with an incredibly sharp 3.2-inch Vari-angle LCD monitor, and is Nikon's first ever DSLR with touch operation, which will help photographers discover new shooting perspectives for both stills and HD video. Intuitively designed for easy menu navigation and intelligent operation, the D5500 allows the user to choose their focus point via Touch AF, pinch in to check focus and even activate the shutter with the touch of a fingertip. Additionally, a new Fn (Function) touch feature gives one-touch access to important settings like AF point selection, aperture, ISO sensitivity, AF area mode and more. The adjustable Vari-angle screen also allows the photographer to capture images and video from exciting new perspectives, easily shooting above the crowd at the dance recital, getting on a toddler's level to capture their first steps or simply taking a creative selfie. The Nikon D5500 helps the budding photographer easily compose, shoot and review each image or video in high-resolution (1,037k dot), helping preserve the moments that matter most.
Never Miss the Perfect Moment
A versatile yet powerful DSLR, the D5500 is equipped with the latest imaging technology to help tell every story with precision. The camera features a powerful and precise 39-point autofocus (AF) system with 9 cross-type sensors that quickly locks on to even the fastest moving subjects to render beautifully focused images. Whether photographing fast-moving subjects in the championship game or the kids in the backyard, users can select from a variety of advanced focus modes, including 3D Tracking to track a moving subject. Paired with the camera's 2,016-pixel RGB sensor and Nikon's Scene Recognition System, the D5500 decisively recognizes and follows each subject in nearly any lighting condition, while continuous shooting up to approximately 5 frames-per-second (fps) makes it possible to capture every fleeting moment.
When the moment is better conveyed through motion, users can also tell their stories with smooth Full HD 1080/60p video with Full-Time AF and stereo sound for a cinema-like experience. The Nikon D5500 also offers a wealth of creative options, including 16 unique Scene Modes that choose the right settings for a variety of common shooting scenarios. Super Vivid, POP and Photo illustration have been added as Effects Modes, and Picture Controls have been enhanced by adding a "Flat" option. These settings now have a 0.25-step adjustment and an expanded "brightness" range to ±1.5 available for photographers who want to completely customize the look and feel of their images and video.
An Affordable Companion Telephoto Lens for DX-Format Shooters
In addition to Nikon's standard retractable design AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II kit lens, Nikon has now added the ideal companion 3.6x zoom lens to help take DX-format photographers from wide-angle to telephoto with ease. Compact and lightweight, the new retractable design AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II is great for capturing sports, people or school events, and presents an affordable way to get closer to the action. The lens also features three stops of VR image stabilization(2) and core NIKKOR technologies including a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) that helps ensure quiet and precise AF operation.
Smaller, Lighter, Faster Telephoto
Nikon has also introduced the AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR, the world's lightest 300mm full-frame fixed focal length AF lens(2), which is nearly 30% shorter and 1.5 lbs. lighter than its predecessor. Extremely easy to handle and built to suit the needs of serious photographers in the field, the new 300mm f/4 lens utilizes Phase Fresnel optical technology to help correct chromatic aberration and reduce the overall size and weight of the lens, making it easy to pack for any assignment. Capable of producing tack-sharp images and beautiful background blur at a distance, Nikon's newest FX-format lens also features four and a half stops of VR image stabilization(3), a VR Sport mode, VR tripod detection as well as several of the latest NIKKOR optical technologies including electromagnetic aperture control, a Silent Wave Motor for quiet AF operation, ED glass for further controlling chromatic aberrations and Nano Crystal Coat for superior image quality.
Price and Availability
The Nikon D5500 will be available in early February, in black and red, in two different kit configurations: alongside the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $999.95* or with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens for $1,199.95* SRP. Sony Unveils its Latest Array of Innovations at 2015 International CES
Promotes superior audiovisual experiences through 4K and High-Resolution Audio as well as new modes of living through life-logging with its expanding and diverse range of SmartWear devices
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Corporation is unveiling its new product lineup scheduled for release in 2015 at the "2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES)" held in Las Vegas, Nevada beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015.
In line with its philosophy of "inspiring and fulfilling the curiosity of people around the world and moving them emotionally," Sony's booth will feature new products and prototypes highlighting Sony's 4K Ultra High-Definition technology, High-Resolution Audio ("Hi-Res"), and SmartWear.
Sony is taking the 4K visual and shooting experience to a whole new level with a wide range of 4K compatible products. A total of 11 new 4K BRAVIA(TM) LCD TVs will be brought to market across three series, boasting even more breathtaking picture quality than before with Sony's own, innovative 4K Processor X1. This new line of BRAVIA sets includes the world's thinnest(*1) series of TVs (approximately 4.9 mm at their thinnest point) as well as the world's first series with Hi-Res compatible speakers(*2).
In addition, Sony is equipping a wide range of 4K and Full HD sets with Google's latest Android(TM) operating system to make cross-functionality between TV and mobile richer than ever. Furthermore, Sony's One-Flick Entertainment interface provides a unique user experience with intuitive flick-operation via touchpad remote to access a library of content just a flick away. The combination of these two provides consumers with a whole new way of interacting with their TVs and accessing content, services, and apps.
Sony is also bringing a whole new level of 4K technology to its digital imaging line, starting with its new Action Cam model capable of shooting 4K video - a new wearable style of capturing footage as crisp, clear, and real as the moment itself. Sony will also showcase its newest 4K Handycam(®) camcorder - around 30% smaller and 20% lighter than the current model(*3) and equipped with Sony's proprietary Balanced Optical SteadyShot(TM) technology.
In the realm of audio, Sony's wide range of new Hi-Res compatible products offers superior listening from inside the home to on-the-go. Sony is introducing a total of ten new devices(*4), including a Hi-Res compatible top-of-the-line Walkman(®), headphones, wireless speakers, home theater systems, and multi-channel integrated amplifiers. With Sony's newly developed LDAC(TM) codec technology, which enables the transmission of approximately 3 times the amount of audio data as is currently possible with existing technologies(*5), users can now listen to higher quality music wirelessly over Bluetooth(®) than ever before. Sony's exhibit will also feature the power of SongPal Link(TM), a new functionality available in Sony's new products that enables simultaneous audio playback through multiple connected devices(*6). A demonstration of this at CES will transport attendees to a new musical space that transcends the physical confines of the venue.
Sony is also pushing forward with the creation of SmartWear devices that offer new experiences and styles of living. At last year's 2014 International CES exhibition, Sony presented an innovative line of conceptual SmartWear products that log life experiences by recording actions of the user throughout the day. The information stored in the Lifelog app enables the user to identify and improve upon daily patterns, making the SmartWear device a powerful "life tool" that has the potential to enrich one's life. In 2015, Sony will further strengthen its ties with fashion and lifestyle brands to deliver new modes of device-wearing that complement the conventional wristband-style. From headsets to eyewear, Sony's SmartWear line will take on a variety of shapes and forms. With a fuller offering of Sony and third-party services and apps, these devices will boast a variety of potential applications, from everyday communication to improved tracking and recording functionality for running, golf, and fitness activities.
In advance of the opening of its exhibit at CES, Sony will hold a press conference on Monday, Jan. 5, local time. Sony Corporation President and CEO Kazuo Hirai and Sony Electronics (SEL) President and COO Michael Fasulo will take the stage and unveil the above-mentioned products set for release this year. A live stream of the conference will be available at the following URL:

(4K)
Sony is announcing 11 4K BRAVIA LCD TV models across three series that offer a greater visual experience - through stunning clarity, a wide color gamut, high luminance, and high contrast - than ever before with the adoption of its own, innovative 4K Processor X1. Sony will be exhibiting the X9000C series, featuring a new "Floating Style" design concept that boasts the world's thinnest(*1) build (approximately 4.9 mm at its thinnest point). Sony will also display its X9300C series, the world's first(*2) TV sets that support Hi-Res audio, are equipped with Hi-Res compatible speakers, and boast Sony's proprietary DSEE HX(TM) technology that upscales compressed audio from broadcast TV and other sources to near-Hi-Res levels(*7).
Sony's new products support the 4K compatible H.265/HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) and WebM VP9 video compression standards, thereby enabling viewers to enjoy a multitude of 4K platforms. And since YouTube(TM) employs the VP9 format worldwide, customers can also view user-generated 4K content, such as videos shot with a 4K Action Cam and uploaded to YouTube, on their new BRAVIA TV sets.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics, a worldwide leader in digital imaging, has today introduced its most powerful POV camera to date, the 4K Action Cam.
The new camera, model FDR-X1000V, applies the company's vast expertise in 4K video production to a compact, splash-proof POV camera design, allowing adventurers to capture stunning 4K content (3840x2160@30p 100Mbps(1)/60Mpbs) with ease, which can be played back on a compatible 4K TV directly from the camera through HDMI. It also features enhanced HD video performance with upgraded stabilization, image quality and high-frame rate shooting.
The FDR-X1000V features a ZEISS Tessar(®) lens with an ultra-wide angle 170 degree(2) field of view, a back-illuminated Exmor R(TM) CMOS sensor and an acclaimed BIONZ X(TM) processor, ensuring that video quality remains consistently strong across all shooting environments.
Additionally, the new camera borrows the acclaimed full pixel readout technology from other high-end Sony cameras including the popular 7 S. This allows the camera to read and process data from all of the sensor's pixels to create exceptionally smooth, highly detailed 4K and HD videos in a variety of formats including MP4 and the high data stream XAVC S codec.
"I'm thrilled to bring the unmatched clarity and sharpness of the Sony 4K experience to our Action Cam line," said Patrick Huang, director of the camcorder business at Sony Electronics. "The innovative design and impressive technology in the new X1000V reflect our strong 4K background and intense commitment to the POV camera market."
"I've been lucky enough to test out the new 4K Action Cam on my skateboard, snowboard and surfboard, and have been blown away by the video quality," said Tony Hawk, professional skateboarder and official Team Action Cam member. "The camera excelled in every shooting environment, producing stunning 4K footage unlike anything I've ever seen before out of a POV camera."
Upgraded HD Video, Stabilization, Control and Sound
The versatile new X1000V camera features an updated version of Action Cam's leading SteadyShot(TM) stabilization(3) technology, adding electronic image stabilization that is approximately 3 times more effective at suppressing high-frequency motor vibration. This allows users to capture clear, vibration-free aerial footage using "drones" and enhances action footage of fast-moving subjects.
The camera can also shoot HD video footage at extremely high frame rates of 120p in Full HD and 240p in standard HD for impressive slow-motion footage, and has clean HDMI output for recording to an external device. On the audio front, the new Action Cam adds wind noise reduction that minimizes wind interference with the stereo microphone, ensuring the best possible sound experience.

New to the X1000V and AS200V Action Cams, "Highlight Movie Maker" is a convenient function that automatically produces a short, edited highlight mp4 video of a recording session(6) - complete with custom background music - for instant sharing. The new technology uses an algorithm to analyze footage during recording, earmarking action shots, scene changes and other key moments and combining them into a shortened video clip that is saved separately and available immediately for sharing.
New Live View Remote RM-LVR2
Sony's new RM-LVR2 live view LCD remote is waterproof up to 3m (approx. 10ft) and features extensive control over the X1000V and AS200V action cam including start/stop recording, movie playback (without sound) and deletion of unwanted files. Multi different cameras can be controlled simultaneously using either the live view remote or a connected smart device and PlayMemories Mobile application(7).
Built-in GPS and Action Cam Movie Creator
The X1000V and AS200V cameras are also equipped with built-in GPS, allowing users to utilize the provided Action Cam Movie Creator software to produce custom videos with GPS Data Overlay. The software can also be used to merge multiple video files together and to add custom background music(8 )to content as desired.
Coming Soon - Official Action Cam App

For the more advanced videographers, the new 4K camcorder includes a customizable manual ring and manual button that can be assigned to key functions like zoom, focus and exposure adjustments etc. The camera is equipped with a high-performance electronic viewfinder approximately three times the resolution of previous models, and a beautiful 3.0" Wide Xtra Fine LCD WhiteMagic(TM) display that performs admirably in all shooting environments including bright sunlight.
Post shooting, 4K video content shot with the FDR-AX33 camcorder can be played back directly on a compatible 4K television through the supplied HDMI cable, or in super-sampled Full HD is connected to an HDTV. The camcorder can also 'trim' 4K images from video frames, enlarging a chosen portion of the frame to fill the screen with Full HD quality. In this mode, trimming size can be changed with zoom lever or on-screen icon( 3).
Also, with support of 4K still image capture, users can extract and save 8.3 MP still images from 4K movie footage without impacting the impressive 4K video quality.
AdditionalHD Handycams for Capturing Memories
There are also several exciting new introductions for Sony's Full HD camcorder line-up including the HDR-PJ670, HDR-PJ440, HDR-CX440 and HDR-CX405 models, bringing stunning HD video recording and image stabilization technologies to a variety of Handycam customers.
The entire 2015 Handycam lineup features XAVC S 50Mbps high-bitrate recording(4) and either Balanced Optical Steady Shot or Optical SteadyShot with Intelligent Active mode, ensuring video footage is highly detailed and blur-free.
With a widest angle of 26.8mm, the lens lets users capture large groups of subjects with ease. A built-in projector on select models allows for instant video playback of saved video on large surfaces, and an HDMI input allows the projector to play content from smartphones, tablets and other compatible devices.
Innovative New Features to Extend Shooting Enjoyment
Standard on all 2015 Handycam models, Highlight Movie Maker automatically creates great-looking short movie clips accompanied by transition effects and background music with no editing needed. Handycam picks and assembles your best shots like smile and tagged points to create short, social media friendly mp4 format videos to share with friends and family. Through use of PlayMemories Home((TM)) software, shooters can customize the length of their highlight video to match the length of pre-installed or personally selected background music.
Also offered across most models in the range, Multi Camera Control utilizes Wi-Fi to allow a 'master' Handycam to control a variety of Sony's Wi-Fi connected cameras including key functions like Start/Stop recording, zoom and other standard settings. When the 'master' Handycam is paired with Sony Action Cam or QX 'Lens Style' cameras(5), it can control up to 5 devices simultaneously. Footage from all of the connected cameras can be easily combined post-shooting through use of PlayMemories Home.
Many of the new camcorders also feature Live Streaming(6) capability through use of Wi-Fi and the USTREAM platform, which is particularly convenient for sharing key moments with distant friends, family and other relatives as they occur.

VOXX Electronics Announces Car Connection Bluetooth OBD Device
New Affordable DIY OBD II Device Designed to work with New Car Connection 2.0 Advanced Services
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LVCC, CENTRAL HALL, BOOTH 10417 - VOXX Electronics Corporation (VEC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX), announced today the spring 2015 launch of a new Do-it-Yourself (DIY), entry level Bluetooth OBD II device that allows smartphone users access to several Car Connection 2.0 safety and saving services via Bluetooth. The Car Connection Bluetooth OBD device will be available in April 2015 for an MSRP of $99.95.
"This new Bluetooth OBD device is an affordable solution for consumers who want the safety and money saving features of 2.0, but who might not need the full suite of Car Connection 2.0 features," said Dan Murphy, VP of VOXX Electronics, Telematics Solutions. "It will provide key 'safety' services to protect both the young and the aging population of drivers. In addition, users can access our 'money saving' services to lower annual insurance costs, a major household expense especially with young drivers."
The "safety" services available with the Bluetooth device include Driver Distraction and Safety Zones that allow the restriction of texting and phone calls, provide the ability to set up safe driving zones, and set speed limit alert notifications. One of the newest additions to the suite of Car Connection 2.0 services and also available through this Bluetooth device is the "Emergency" service, providing consumers the ability to call an emergency response call center and receive professionally trained support for the emergency at hand.
The new device installs in minutes: simply plug it into the OBD port under the dashboard, activate your account on-line and you are ready to go. Car Connection requires a subscription service and the 2.0 version will launch in April starting at $9.99 per month with no contract or activation fee required.
Car Connection is the first convenience and diagnostic tool that can help improve vehicle and driver performance and save money on insurance premiums. Car Connection 2.0 provides a unique insurance discount program that allows participating insurance carriers the opportunity to review your driving habits over a two week period; the insurance carrier will then send you a quote for a new insurance policy. Typically, an average consumer can save up to 15-20% on their annual policy, which could equate to hundreds of dollars of savings per year. You can also save on vehicle repair costs by gaining access to the Vehicle Health service report that gives you a heads-up on the condition of your vehicle, so conversations with your service department are more meaningful. There is no more guessing on what the check engine light means.
