SEOUL, South Korea and CUPERTINO, Calif., Sep. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation ("MagnaChip") (NYSE: MX), a Korea-based designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products, today announced that it has finished development of a proprietary 0.13um embedded EEPROM IP which is suited for use in non-volatile memory (NVM) solutions such as touch controller IC and microcontroller (MCU) applications. In comparison with 0.18um embedded EEPROM IP, this newly developed 0.13um embedded EEPROM IP enhances the performance of touch controller ICs and MCUs by decreasing approximately 50% of the density of 32Kbyte memory, and providing 100K times of endurance characteristics and data retention to over 10 years.
MagnaChip initiated the development of its 0.13um embedded EEPROM IP with Wingore, a Korean third party IP provider, which led to further development and completion of IP for a 1.5V/ 3.3V dual supply low power solution. This new 0.13um EEPROM IP strengthens MagnaChip's product portfolio and provides competitive solutions for medical and touch controller applications and offers many advantages including high speed and low standby current.
MagnaChip is also developing additional versions of the 0.13um EEPROM IP, including 1.5V/ 5.0V dual supply and low power IP suitable for MCU, consumer and industrial applications with product release targeted for the latter part of this year.
Namkyu Park, Executive Vice President of MagnaChip's Semiconductor Manufacturing Services Division, commented, "We are very pleased to offer various NVM solutions utilizing MagnaChip's proprietary IP as well as third party IP. Let Your Ears Be Loved: Sennheiser launches a multi-channel consumer campaign, starring the new URBANITE headphones
OLD LYME, Conn., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sennheiser´s URBANITE headphonesare designed for the generation of Millennials who know more and demand more. They love their tunes heavy and love to look good. But they are smart consumers who won´t compromise on quality. Driven by the theme "Let Your Ears Be Loved", the campaign will engage the target group with online videos and additional online/offline activation. The focus is put on their high demands and passion for sound in a humorous way. The surprising campaign spearheaded by the US advertising agency McKinney will be kicked-off in mid-September.
Anchor of the campaign is the landing page http://www.sennheiser-urbanite.com. It draws the attention to a sample of URBANITE "love-scenes". The romantic videos reveal an impersonated URBANITE headphone-set pleasing a gigantic ear in many ways. Viewers are immediately ensured that URBANITE will love their ears just as much. Along with his sensual tone the URBANITE character employs a thick German accent indicating his profound engineering heritage.
"With the campaign we're bringing something fresh and new that will meet the expectations of this tough audience," said Uwe Greunke, Director of Strategic Marketing at Sennheiser. "We came up with an idea that points out our passion for sound in a way that resonates with and is relevant to 18- to 25-year-olds. We're as excited about it as the URBANITE character is about the ears he loves."
The "Let Your Ears Be Loved" campaign has multiple components and will use social media and user-generated content to drive participation and viral uptake. Sennheiser will promote the campaign via its Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels, utilizing the hashtag #EarLove.
Pure Ear Love
Core of the campaign are the video spots featuring a gigantic, lifelike ear and a German-accented character dressed as the Sennheiser URBANITE headphones. He spends every second on screen giving the ear pure aural pleasure, both physically and verbally, while convincing viewers that he'll love their ears as much.
The Golden Ears of NYC and London
From September 12 to September 21, the people of New York City are invited to join a scavenger hunt to find 1,000 Golden Ears hidden around the city - each ear is removable from a poster hanging in record stores and other places where ears shop. Whenever the ear lovers share one of the campaign videos on Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr, they get a clue about the location of a Golden Ear in return. And of course there is a free URBANITE set for every scavenger finding a Golden Ear. Neglected ears in the UK will not starve for long: The Golden Ears hunt will soon sweep across the ocean. It will be the "talk of the town" in London starting from October 20 through November 2.
Once removed from posters, Golden Ears can be redeemed for a free pair of Sennheiser URBANITE headphones at the Ear Love Palace at 1 Rivington Street on the Lower East Side of New York or at the MusicCube experience in London at either Westfield London or Westfield Stratford City. At both locations, visitors with and without Golden Ears can try on both on-ear and over-ear versions of the Sennheiser URBANITE headphones; recline in a claw-foot bathtub while listening to the bass-driven, intense club sound that emanates from them; and even buy a pair.
Put URBANITE where the ears are

Popular iOS Shooter Angels in The Sky 1.1.1 Released With Special Weapons System Changes
Responding to gamer requests iOS shooter Angels in The Sky version 1.1.1 recently launched. Powered by exciting game play and now a superior special weapons system, inspired by player feedback, the new version of Angels in The Sky has been met with quick enthusiasm.
SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For many people, mobile first person shooter Angels in The Sky represents a graphic shift in iOS games that's simply stunning. Powered by an exciting story line that takes place in the Grand Canyon where players defend it from alien invasion, the shooter has steadily built interest as its developers listened to feedback behind the scenes preparing for a new version. At the end of July it was released, and version 1.1.1 of the popular iOS game has seen a number of improvements especially in the games' special weapons systems, which have been greatly changed and expanded based on user's experience and feedback.
"We looked to create a better balance in game difficulty for version 1.1.1, taking full advantage of the 'Unreal Engine 4' that powers the game," commented a person from the Angels in The Sky team. "The new weapons system really helps dynamically accomplish that goal. We're looking forward to how far we can take Angels in the Sky, with the iPhone 6's larger screen opening new possibilities. We know players are really going to appreciate the action here!"
According to the company, the special weapons mode during game play will now be set to default, and how a player chooses to use these weapons will take on a big part of strategy in successful game play. The reward system at the end of each level, working off of suggestions from early players of Angels, has also been raised adding to the fun and competition that come along with the shooter.
More changes are expected in the future as the Angels in The Sky story continues to update with more NPC's and exciting maps. Gameplay will continue to be dynamic as ever as players fight against beautifully crafted alien ships on visually stunning backgrounds.
Emily G., a game player from Boston, recently said about the game, "Angels in The Sky has jaw dropping graphics. I really liked the game at first, but now with version 1.1.1 that like has turned into love. The auto targeting function is perfect for me and really has increased the fun I have with Angels. I'm going to keep playing and keeping an eye open for more updates. Five stars."

Curved displays from Samsung & LG herald start of new wave of technological innovation in smartphone design says Strategy Analytics
Displays based on flexible OLEDs will enable a tidal wave of new, innovative smartphone products within the next 3 years and will come to dominate within 10 years
BOSTON, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The launch of the innovative Samsung Note Edge last week and the Samsung Round and the LG G-Flex a few months ago took the hype surrounding flexible displays one step closer to reality. However, despite being made from flexible OLED materials, these first-generation phones offer limited new functionality and in fact have curved rigid screens, rather than flexible screens.
The Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies (HCT) service report, "Flexible OLED Displays: A New Wave of Technological Innovation in Smartphone Design," details recent technological advancements and profiles the leading suppliers.
The Note Edge features an innovative edge screen which can be used independently of the main screen for notifications during video playback or while the main screen is off. Curved OLED screens offer a number of benefits over rigid LCD screens including being lighter, thinner and supposedly more durable. In addition, the curved form factor of the screens may offer a more comfortable user experience. Nevertheless looking to the longer term truly disruptive impact these developments will have, they are a huge leap forward in display technology and are the pre-cursors to truly flexible second-generation products. In the future, leveraging the OLED material's flexibility will enable a host of completely new designs and form factors to be developed such as smartphones with tablet-sized foldable screens.
"However, a number of challenges will need to be overcome before truly flexible and foldable devices become commercially available. More of the phone's components need to be flexible to make a truly flexible phone, not just the display," according to Stuart Robinson, Director of the Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies service. "This includes the cover material, the batteries as well as the semiconductors and other components. In addition, new tools and processes will need to be developed for cost-effective volume production," he added.
"Once these manufacturing challenges are overcome, a range of new, innovative smartphone products will be launched, probably within the next 3 years," said Stephen Entwistle, Strategic Technologies VP at Strategy Analytics. "It is likely that flexible OLED displays will become the preferred display technology in mass consumer products within the next 10 years," he added.

Seriously Capable, Surprisingly Compact: Packing Pro Features And FX-format Image Quality, The Nikon D750 Is The Full-Frame D-SLR That's Been Worth Waiting For
Along With the D750, Nikon Announces Attractive New Offerings for Advanced Enthusiast and Professional Photographers, Including the SB-500 Speedlight and AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED Lens
MELVILLE, N.Y., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Nikon Inc. announced the D750, the D-SLR that provides adept enthusiasts with the powerful combination of pro-caliber photo and video features with FX-format image quality. The new D750 represents a leap forward for this camera segment, inheriting some of the best elements from Nikon's revered full-frame professional cameras, with new and refined features aimed at sparking creativity and sharing with built-in Wi-Fi. Additionally, Nikon has also announced the SB-500, a versatile yet compact multimedia Speedlight, and Nikon's fastest ultra wide-angle lens yet, the new AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED. These new products easily supplement a professional's kit, while making it more appealing than ever for enthusiasts to discover the intense and immersive image quality that only an FX-format sensor can offer.
"The Nikon D750 is the camera many have been waiting for; never before has this level of functionality and vast feature set been offered in a full frame D-SLR, at such an attractive price," said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. "These new products, including the SB-500 Speedlight and 20mm f/1.8 lens are meant to directly address those who care about image quality and want the gear that will help drive their passion to the next level."
Serious Features for Advanced Shooters
The new Nikon D750 provides professional-level features and performance in a durable, lightweight body. Whether the user is an advanced enthusiast or seasoned pro in need of a second body, the D750 easily complements any photographic discipline with a pro-caliber capability.
Sharp landscapes and portraits are simple with Nikon's advanced 51-point AF system, the same used on Nikon's high-end D-SLRs. The Advanced Multi-Cam 3500-FX II AF focus system also easily tracks fast moving wildlife or sports, even at the rapid, high-speed burst rate of 6.5 frames per second (fps), at full resolution. Similar to the Nikon D4S, the D750 features the 91,000-pixel 3D Color Matrix Meter III and its blazing fast AF system uses 15 cross-type AF sensors for enhanced accuracy, with 11 cross-type sensors that are fully functional up to f/8. In addition to normal, wide area, face priority and subject tracking AF modes, the D750 also features the new Group Area AF mode for enhanced accuracy. Challenging light such as a poorly lit wedding reception is also no problem for the D750, as the AF system has been improved with the ability to lock on to subjects in as little as -3 EV illumination, a first for any Nikon D-SLR.
The D750 is Nikon's first FX-format D-SLR with a tilting Vari-Angle LCD, with robust construction to meet the needs of working in the field. The precision 3.2-inch, 1,229K dot screen tilts to accommodate shooting overhead, at waist level and is ideal for shooting photos or HD video on a tripod. For those serious about using a D-SLR for video, the D750 delivers the same level of functionality found in the Nikon D810, with the maximum amount of manual control that's essential for production applications.
Next Level Image Quality
The Nikon D750 features a newly developed 24.3-MP FX-format CMOS sensor to provide adept photographers with image quality that's nothing short of astounding; with rich colors, beautiful gradation and a vast dynamic range. A myriad of other intelligent features help photographers to unlock their potential to create and share vibrant, tack-sharp images that takes an imaginative story from concept to reality.
-- The new Nikon D750 features the EXPEED 4 Image Processing Engine,
similar to the pro-level D810 and D4S. In addition to increasing energy
efficiency and performance, EXPEED 4 contributes to the overall image
excellence with noise reduction performance and other benefits.
-- Whether shooting a vista bathed in full sun to a reception in minimal
light, the camera produces images with exceptionally low noise in a
variety of lighting conditions. The broad ISO range extends from
100-12,800, expandable from (Lo-1) 50 to (Hi-2) 51,200.
-- Highlight Weighted Metering is ideal for capturing stage performances
and events, preventing blown-out highlights in photo and video.
-- The D750 also features the latest generation of Nikon's Advanced Picture
Control settings. The "Clarity" setting enhances midtones to emphasize
intense image details and "Flat" Picture control is used for a broad
tonal range, which is ideal for photo and video applications. Picture
controls are also customizable in .25 increments, for maximum
versatility in any shooting situation.
Full Control of Advanced Video Features
The D750 features the same level of advanced video functionality as the Nikon D810, an HD-SLR known in studios and on-set for its professional production pedigree. The camera can capture video in Full HD 1920x1080 resolution at 60/30/24p and gives videographers and multimedia artists full manual control, including aperture adjustment. Like D810, the Power Aperture feature provides smooth transitions while adjusting the aperture during recording, and in manual mode, users can control shutter speed and ISO.
The D750's compact size and affordability will make it a welcome addition to any production environment, as will its FX and DX-format crop modes that make it a snap to adjust the focal range without swapping lenses. Implementing another indispensable feature on-set, footage can be recorded to the dual SD memory card slots, or simultaneously output to an external recorder or monitor via HDMI for a variety of applications. Camera operators will also enjoy features such as headphone and microphone jacks, Zebra stripes to spot overexposed areas, as well as the ability to select frequency ranges for the internal stereo microphone. For time lapse, the camera utilizes Exposure Smoothing, a great feature that creates balanced exposure transitions between frames when using the time lapse or intervalometer feature.
FX-Format Connectivity
The Nikon D750 is Nikon's first full frame D-SLR to include built-in Wi-Fi, which enables photographers to both share their images and capture remotely. Using Nikon's free Wireless Mobile Utility App(1), users can connect with their compatible mobile device, such as a smart phone or tablet. Once connected, a tap on the screen engages auto focus, while the camera can be triggered remotely, making it easy to position the camera in areas where access could be difficult. Once downloaded, users can also utilize popular applications and social networks to seamlessly share images, bringing the exciting image quality of full-frame to the feeds of friends and family, on the fly. The feature can also be used to scout and send location photos to clients, or instantly deliver photos processed with the in-camera editing features.
For professional photographers and videographers, the camera also has the capability to transmit images over FTP using the WT-5a wireless transceiver plus the UT-1 Communications Unit. With these optional accessories, the camera can be triggered and controls operated in HTTP mode using the web browser of a mobile device. Live view as well as start/stop recording can also be enabled remotely, providing the ability to capture otherwise impossible footage, for example when the camera is mounted on a crane.
Command Agility and Durability
The camera is manufactured using a "monocoque" structural skin technique, which adopts durable carbon fiber for the front body and front cover, and resilient magnesium alloy for the rear cover and top cover. The resulting camera body is the ideal balance of substantial build quality and compact, yet lightweight design for comfortable all-day shooting. The structure is also sealed and gasketed to resist dust and moisture, and the shutter has been tested to 150,000 cycles. To further enhance build quality, the 3.2-inch tilting Vari-Angle LCD screen is joined to the camera using a durable three-axis metal mount, designed to withstand the rigors of professional use. Users can also opt to compose through a bright viewfinder with 100% frame coverage, with shooting info displayed using organic EL illumination.
From a newlywed's first kiss to a bouquet toss, a split-second can make or break an image; ergonomics and the ability to quickly adjust camera functions are important factors to consider for enthusiasts and pros. The new body design ensures a secure and comfortable grip regardless of the size of user's hands, while button placement is considered for peak performance.
Comprehensive Photographic System
Whether upgrading a current system or switching to Nikon's legendary image quality, Nikon offers an all-inclusive system of NIKKOR Lenses, Speedlights and accessories for every type of photographer. The Nikon D750 is compatible with more than 80 FX and DX-format NIKKOR lenses, the same optics that have built a lasting legacy of amazing image quality with brilliant sharpness and faithful color reproduction. For those upgrading from a DX-format lens system the D750 can also shoot in DX mode at 10.3-megapixels. The camera is compatible with Nikon's Creative Lighting System (CLS) using the camera's built in flash to control remote Speedlights for creative lighting possibilities. The new MB-D16 battery pack will also be released with the camera, to provide users with extended battery life as well as a functional vertical grip.
AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED: Fast Ultra Wide-Angle Lens
The AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED is the latest addition to Nikon's popular f/1.8 series of FX-format lenses, which provide enthusiast photographers with fast, quality optics at an attractive price. This is Nikon's first ultra wide angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture, allowing users to shoot in challenging light and create images with a pleasing separation between subject and background. With a 94-degree angle of view (FX), the lens is ideal for architecture, interiors, wide-angle landscape and creative group portraits. When paired with the compact D750, this lens is also a great solution for video applications that call for shooting in cramped quarters. This AF-S lens provides whisper quiet and fast autofocus capability, an internal focus design, and features Nikon's exclusive Nano Crystal Coat to reduce instances of ghost and flare.
SB-500: Versatile and Compact Video Speedlight
The SB-500 Speedlight is an exciting addition to Nikon's Speedlight lineup, offering users the unbeatable yet versatile combination of a compact yet powerful Speedlight and LED video light, covering a wide 16mm/24mm (FX/DX). The controls on the SB-500 are simplified, making it easy to explore the possibilities of creative lighting with Speedlights. For full control over illumination, the head of the Speedlight has a 90-degree vertical swivel to bounce light off ceilings, and rotates 180-degrees for soft lighting effects. For remote lighting possibilities, the SB-500 Speedlight can be integrated into a CLS system with two-group/two-channel control. The powerful LED light (100 lux) is a great option for lighting video, and can be operated independently. Additionally, the SB-500 Speedlight is also powered by only two AA batteries, reducing both its weight and size.

New Center will Focus on Transformative Solutions for Communications Service Providers
DigitalRoute has launched DR Xplore (DRX) - an IT and data management innovation hub
based in Gothenburg, Sweden - as it continues to redefine and extend the boundaries of
mediation.
To fuel the lab, the global leader in mediation technologies will work together with
similar facilities at key OEM and VAR partner organizations to ensure that its own
research is integrated and consistent with other application developments across the wider
BSS/OSS ecosystem.
"15 years ago, DigitalRoute re-defined telco billing mediation" said Johan Bergh, CEO
DigitalRoute. "Since then, we've expanded our portfolio of solutions to include Online
Control offerings, Service Assurance Mediation and more. We continue to revolutionize the
Network-IT integration and push the boundaries even further through DR Xplore" Johan
added.
DR Xplore will focus on identifying advances in key operational areas where the impact
of the data explosion is most evident. These include:
- The Internet of Things (IoT)
The processing requirements demanded to support the evolution of machine-to-machine
services from simple telematics to today's growing range of more complex offerings
such as infotainment are evolving rapidly. If this trend is to become profitable for
the Service Provider, the need to differentiate traffic is critical. An example is
segmenting traffic that would be paid for by the content provider versus that
purchased and paid for by the end user. DR Xplore will focus on areas such as traffic
routing and monitoring including counting and control and will seek to fuel the
transition between simple device metering to continuously metering and reporting
services and usage, a shift that will require more advanced data processing
capabilities than CSPs are used to. Cisco estimates the IoT carries a $19tn global
value creation opportunity in increased revenue, decreased costs, business process
improvement and innovative urban services creation by 2022.
- Mediation and Software Defined Networks (SDN)
The transition to SDN has already started and as "hard"-ware becomes software,
significant TCO gains are expected for operators. But to make a true difference in
operational costs the SDN controllers need be aware of the networks utilization and
customer experience to then be able to optimize resources in the most effective way.
The success of self-optimizing networks is dependent on having network resources
virtualized and then being able to make real-time decisions on reconfiguring and
retrieving the right measurements from the network in a timely manner. The
opportunities for data capture and, thus, mediation will increase. DR Xplore will be
at the head of the curve turning mapping in already proven Service Assurance Mediation
and Online Control technology into the new virtualized network world.
In conclusion, Johan added: "Our challenge is, together with our partners, to imagine
what is possible for the Service Provider Community as the industry evolves, then create
solutions that enable the possible to become a reality."

Alcatel-Lucent to make private copy cloud video recording cost-effective and copyright-compliant
Alcatel-Lucent's Velocix Content Delivery Network solution drastically reduces storage costs for cloud DVR with new 'virtual private copy architecture'
PARIS, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) is developing a new technology architecture that will enable pay TV providers to offer the ability to store favorite TV programs in the cloud cost effectively while maintaining compliance with content rights legislation.
In many countries today, copyright laws concerning television follow a 'private copy' model. This means each consumer must have their own copy of a TV program they have recorded. This makes network recording services uneconomical due to the cost of storage being hundreds of times higher than in a 'shared copy' model where only one recording is kept for all consumers.
Alcatel-Lucent's 'virtual private copy architecture' solves this issue by combining economical tiered storage with enhanced intelligence in the Velocix Content Delivery Network (CDN) to enable pay TV providers to cost-effectively deploy private copy cloud recording and comply with copyright laws.
Every time a user wants to record a program, Velocix Scheduler logs the request and initiates the recording. One recording is made per user, in accordance with content rights. These recordings can be kept in simple, low-cost storage archives as they do not require fast and frequent access. Innovative new techniques in the Velocix CDN allow the distribution of unique recordings in a method that can be cached.
Compared to a private copy environment, Alcatel-Lucent's virtual private copy architecture means storage costs can be reduced by up to 75%. As playback comes directly from the CDN, latency is also reduced, improving the quality of experience for users.
Alcatel-Lucent is currently developing a prototype solution based on this architecture that will be ready to trial mid-2015, with product available towards the end of 2015.
Quotes
Paul Larbey, head of Alcatel-Lucent's IP Video business: "We've been talking with several customers about ways to help them comply with content rights issues and still offer their customers the advantages of cloud DVR services. This new architecture is the result of those discussions and removes the single biggest barrier to deployment - the cost of storage in a private copy environment."

Frost & Sullivan Applauds Advantech Wireless's Gallium Nitride Devices for Balancing Performance and Economy in a New Application Terrain
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the gallium nitride (GaN)-based devices market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Advantech Wireless with the 2014 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation Leadership. Advantech Wireless's new series of GaN-based solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) and other telecom devices have revolutionized the GaN devices market with their small form factor, reduced power consumption and heat generation, as well as capital and operating cost-efficiency.
Until recently, GaN's linearity, processing, biasing, and cost characteristics appeared to limit the semiconductor's use to devices in low-frequency commercial applications and defense communications, where price was not much of an issue. Advantech Wireless was determined to bring the semiconductor into higher-powered commercial markets, as it was convinced of GaN's potential in radio frequency power amplification and other telecom applications.
Following this vision, Advantech Wireless dedicated significant resources to developing path-breaking technologies such as its high-power amplifier, which can simultaneously transmit to all satellite transponders from a single antenna. This capability facilitates cost-efficient, energy-saving communications connectivity by enabling the replacement of multiple antennas and up to hundreds of TWTs/Klystrons.
"Advantech Wireless noted that the introduction of GaN High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs) in early 2000 left an undeniable mark on the satellite communication landscape," said Frost & Sullivan Research AnalystMike Valenti. "Therefore, the company launched its ambitious R&D program in 2006 to design and manufacture a complete line of C-, X-, and Ku-band SSPAs that could meet the most demanding satellite communication applications."
Another outcome of the company's intense R&D efforts is the SapphireBlu⢠Series of UltraLinear⢠GaN technology-based, high-power amplifiers. The greater ground power, linearity, and cost-savings of the SapphireBlu⢠Series, along with Advantech Wireless's 13m A-line antenna in a major direct-to-home (DTH) Uplink system inLatin America, allowed viewers in Latin America and Brazil to watch the biggest sport tournament played inBrazil.
Importantly, Advantech Wireless understands the importance of facilitating key Mega Trends such as Innovating to Zero and Enhanced Connectivity. Its products can enable key reductions in the size, weight, and power of telecommunications equipment from the ultra-high frequency (UHF) band to the Ka band (part of the K band of the microwave portion of the electromagnetic spectrum) in satellite communications.
"Advantech Wireless develops solutions that balance satellite spectral efficiency to provide the smallest occupied bandwidth at enhanced link availability," noted Valenti. "This results in capital and operating cost-savings that can be passed along to the customer."
With regard to device efficiency, the Advantech Wireless GaN-based SSPA has a dramatic 65 percent increase in mean time between failures (MTBF) compared to the company's similar GaAs-based SSPA product because of the reliability of components, number of components, and electrical efficiency of the former. The SapphireBlu⢠Series high-power SSPAs are able to achieve up to 6 kilowatts in radio frequency power, proving their reliability in the most environmentally stringent and demanding work conditions.
Furthermore, the company employs a Quality Management System that is compliant with the ISO9001 standard across its entire business. Its corporate leadership regularly reviews this system to ensure that it continues to assist Advantech Wireless in achieving its quality objectives and providing sufficient resources to achieve its goals.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed an innovative element in a product by leveraging leading-edge technologies. The award recognizes the value-added features/benefits of the product and the increased ROI it offers customers, which, in turn, increases customer acquisition and overall market penetration potential.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.

DENVER, Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics has more than doubled its number of Ultra High Definition TV models available in the United States, announcing fourth-quarter availability of new models ranging from 40- to 105-inches at suggested prices of $999 to $99,999.
Led by new 105- and 98-inch class sets (104.6 and 97.5 inches measured diagonally), the expanded lineup further advances LG's presence and leadership in the exploding Ultra HD market. The new 105UC9 and 98UB9800 Ultra HD TVs - ideally suited for custom-installation market where consumers demand larger screens and improved audio - are on display at the 2014 CEDIA Expo (Booth #140) this week.
On the other end of the Ultra HD spectrum, LG is rounding out its lineup with five new entry-level 4K LED TVs, including a value-packed 40-inch class model - all delivering on the promise of stunning 4K resolution with more than four times the picture detail of Full HD TV. All told, LG now offers 16 Ultra HD TVs, including the new 77- and 65-inch class Ultra HD 4K OLED TVs also launching this fall. (See separate news release.)
"Today's consumer is seeking the best performance, picture quality and sound," said David VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA. "Our expanded lineup, including large format sets with a combination of stellar picture quality and sound, along with the widest viewing angles and intuitive, fast Smart TV+ webOS(TM) platform, will provide consumers with a full set of comprehensive features and enhanced technologies."
LG's TVs can display native 4K content in its full glory as it incorporates new technology standards - such as the latest HDMI interface and H.265 decoding - capable of handling Ultra HD programming, whether it's streamed over the Internet or playing from a USB or HDMI source. With these technologies on board, consumers will have an Ultra HD TV that will be ready to accept new sources of 4K content as they become available.* (All models meet or exceed the Consumer Electronics Association's new requirements for "Connected Ultra HDTVs".)
With advanced panels using IPS (In Plane Switching) technology, these LG Ultra HD TVs reproduce accurate color and provide and the widest horizontal viewing angles with less risk of color distortion or loss of contrast when compared to conventional VA-type LCD panels.
For 2014, all LG Ultra HD TVs include internet connectivity, with the majority featuring the Smart TV+ webOS(TM) platform - a refreshingly intuitive interface that makes it easier to find and transition between content options at speeds similar to regular channel changing. With webOS, live TV, streaming services and previously viewed content are all accessible via one click on the "launcher bar" menu. The platform also features recommendation capabilities to help consumers sift through its expansive content options, which include streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant Video and Hulu Plus and more.**

A truly cinematic experience: Bang & Olufsen introduces BeoVision Avant 85
Featuring exquisite imagery and iconic sound, united through the beauty of movement
COPENHAGEN, Denmark and DEERFIELD, Ill., Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Watching television in a time of smartphones and tablets is all about the big picture. When you allow yourself to unwind and relax at home in front of your television, the visual experience should be extraordinary and the sound nothing short of immaculate.
This is why Bang & Olufsen now launches an impressive 85-inch version of the highly acclaimed BeoVision Avant 55" - just introduced earlier this year. The majestic size of BeoVision Avant 85" sets the perfect stage for a truly cinematic movie experience with family and friends or an enthusiastic sports night with crystal clear action and an engaging surround sound that unfolds an enthralling stadium sensation in your living room.
An extraordinary home experience
Following the successful reception of BeoVision Avant 55", Bang & Olufsen now introduces an ambitious upgrade to the popular format, which magnifies the unique features on an impressive display size. Thus the new flagship television displays Ultra High-Definition (4K) picture and the renowned Bang & Olufsen sound in one elegantly designed and beautifully crafted television experience.
"BeoVision Avant 85" is a true state-of-the-art product at a competitive price for a television of this size and level of innovation. At Bang & Olufsen, we are proud of introducing this grand television to a market that is demanding products offering extraordinary home experiences," explains Tue Mantoni, the CEO of Bang & Olufsen.
Smart choreography and one-touch control
The designers at Bang & Olufsen intended to reduce the physical presence of BeoVision Avant 85" when not in use. This is achieved by offering both a motorized stand and a wall bracket option, which will allow the 85-inch television to stand out or blend into your interior. Once you switch it on it shows off its full potential through a carefully choreographed unfolding. Touch one button on BeoRemote One, and it finds your favorite position, your favorite channel, and your favorite sound setting. When you switch it off, it folds back the speakers, and returns to its discrete resting place close up against the wall.
Cinematic sound and vision
The 85-inch version of BeoVision Avant features cutting-edge direct type LED with 2D local backlight dimming. The result is in an even more refined picture quality, bringing the true power of the cinema straight to your living room.
With eight integrated driver units and a surround sound module, BeoVision Avant 85" provides an unrivalled sound performance. The integrated 3-channel speaker solution, consisting of a center channel and stereo, delivers robust stereo performance with optimized speech reproduction and sufficient bass to satisfy your wishes when watching even the most extreme sports or action footage with crystal sharp, dynamic precision. However, if you wish to extend the sound up to a full 7.1 surround solution this is possible - even wirelessly - as the television incorporates the Immaculate Wireless Sound Concept. The result is a fusion of clarity and power that truly embodies Bang & Olufsen's commitment to ultimate sound.
One remote to rule them all
The professional installation of BeoVision Avant 85" ensures that all relevant non-Bang & Olufsen equipment such as game consoles, Apple TV etc. can be handled by the Bang & Olufsen remote control, BeoRemote One. This new sleek, aluminium remote offers one-hand and one one-touch access to a wide variety of experiences through tactile feedback and personalized MyButtons operation.
BeoVision Avant 85" is available from September 11, 2014, and will be on sale exclusively at Bang & Olufsen stores. MSRP is $22,700 USD for BeoVision Avant 85" including BeoRemote One. Motorized floor stand retails at $2295.

Hollywood's Top-selling Camera Maker ARRI Chooses Altera for AMIRA Documentary Camera
Altera Stratix V Enables a Full Camera Pipeline on a Single FPGA with no Compromise on Picture Quality and an Enpirion PowerSoC Offers Low Power Consumption
SAN JOSE, Calif. and AMSTERDAM, Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- IBC 2014 -- Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced that its field programmable gate array (FPGA) products and complementary power products have been chosen to enable a new, versatile documentary-style camera by Munich-based ARRI, the world's largest maker of cinematographic cameras for Hollywood's film industry. The AMIRA is the first ARRI camera with its own video processing pipeline enabled on a single Altera Stratix V FPGA, which when combined with Altera's Enpirion® PowerSoC DC-DC converter, greatly contributes to the camera's compact, ergonomic design optimized for single-operator use.
Altera engineers are demonstrating the live content capture capabilities of the AMIRA camera in the Altera booth (#1.F13) at the International Broadcast Conference (IBC 2014) held in Amsterdam from September 12 to 16.
ARRI Managing Director Franz Kraus said, "Our cameras are designed to enable filmmakers to capture the emotion in the moment. There is no second shot, so the camera must offer the highest level of control and the best configuration settings to enable filmmakers to anticipate action; and that is what the Altera FPGA technology helps us deliver in AMIRA."
The Stratix V FPGA enables the AMIRA camera to feature the same sensor and exceptional image quality as the ARRI ALEXA camera, but at up to 200 frames per second. At IBC 2014, ARRI will be demonstrating UHD output support for AMIRA, thanks to its reprogrammable system architecture and its processing power allowing in-camera, real-time up-sampling for UHD distribution. The AMIRA multi-viewfinder relies on Altera's Cyclone V to enable precision capture operation and camera control, making it affordable for cost-sensitive production budgets.
Vice President of the Broadcast Business Unit at Altera Dan McNamara said, "The programmable and high-performance capabilities of Stratix V are ideally suited to the design challenges and enabled ARRI to create a cutting-edge documentary camera. The AMIRA, our first collaboration with ARRI, is a remarkable camera with exceptional picture quality that comes with complex system design challenges, pushing the envelope in terms of smaller form factor, lower power consumption, and computational and memory bandwidth."

LG Electronics Announces U.S. Availability For First Ultra HD 4K OLED TV
Future of TV on display at CEDIA Expo 2014
DENVER, Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics today firmly established its OLED TV market leadership by announcing pricing and availability for the first Ultra HD OLED TVs to hit the U.S. market. LG's cutting-edge lineup features the 77-inch class 77EG9700 and 65-inch class 65EC9700 (76.7 and 64.5 inches measured diagonally).
LG's Ultra HD 4K OLED TVs offer the ultimate in picture quality, combining the intense detail of 4K Ultra HD and the superior contrast and color accuracy that OLED technology provides. The new 77EG9700 and 65EC9700 4K OLED TVs - perfectly suited for the custom-installation market where consumers demand best-in-class products - are on display at the 2014 CEDIA Expo (Booth #140) here this week.
"LG 4K OLED TV is a technological achievement that will set a new standard for the way consumers think of picture quality," said Tim Alessi, Director of New Product Development for LG Electronics USA. "OLED on its own has already been hailed as the best screen technology on the market. Combining the stunning capabilities of this technology with the higher resolution of Ultra HD is a true game-changer - it will reshape the industry and leave consumers simply amazed."
With LG's WRGB OLED technology each pixel is made up of four sub-pixels, which equals roughly 33 million sub-pixels working to produce the most lifelike color and level of detail. Since no backlight is required, OLED can also reach black levels that are immeasurable, providing an infinite contrast ratio, one of the key elements of display performance. Also unique to OLED is the revolutionary new design approach that drastically reduces the thickness to an amazingly thin, 4.5 millimeters at their thinnest point, which is the depth of just a few credit cards. These models also feature a subtle curved screen and due to the televisions' frameless, bezel-less "Cinema Screen" design, the picture on the screen virtually stretches from edge-to-edge.
LG's TVs can display native 4K content in its full glory as it incorporates new technology standards - such as the latest HDMI interface and H.265 decoding - capable of handling Ultra HD programming, whether it's streamed over the Internet or playing from a USB or HDMI source. With these technologies on board, consumers will have an Ultra HD TV that will be ready to accept new sources of 4K content as they become available.* (Both models exceed the Consumer Electronics Association's new requirements for "Connected Ultra HDTVs".)These new sets include LG's Tru-4K Engine Pro which uses a dual-chip, 6-step process to upscale HD content into 4K, providing a stunning viewing experience for legacy content as well.
With LG Smart TV+ webOS(TM), consumers have an intuitive interface that offers lightning-quick transitions between broadcast TV, streaming services and external device. Those features were developed around the core concepts of Simple Connection, Simple Switching and Simple Discovery and are accessible via one click on the "launcher bar" menu and the transition speeds are similar to regular channel switching. The platform also features recommendation capabilities to help consumers sift through its expansive content options, which include streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant Video and Hulu Plus and more.**
Both the 77-and 65-inch class 4K OLED TVs are wall mountable to offer installation flexibility, satisfying consumers who are seeking a stylish and cinematic wall-mounted television, or an elegant, leaf-shaped stand for table top use.
The 77EG9700 has already been honored with the Best of Innovations award at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES)*** and was recently recognized by the prestigious Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) for its exceptionally intuitive user interface.
The 65EC9700 will be available nationwide in October at $9,999 while the 77EG9700 will be available in November at select retailers at $24,999.
*4K/UHD content delivery standards still being developed.
