Verizon, UTeach Institute to Showcase Innovative Program on Dec. 2 to Help Future Teachers Use Mobile Tech To Improve Math and Science Learning
AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon and the UTeach Institute on Dec. 2 will debut an innovative programto train tomorrow's educators on how to effectively use mobile technology to improve student learning and interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The event will be held at Kealing Middle School in Austin, where students in the UTeach secondary STEM teacher preparation program at the University of Texas are learning to incorporate mobile devices into math and science instruction to help students better understand science and math concepts.
The initiative, the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) Higher Education program, was created through a partnership among Verizon, UTeach and the National Math & Science Initiative. Since September, math and science education majors at select universities across the nation have been learning how to use mobile devices to supplement STEM instruction. Strengthening STEM learning is important because, while the number of jobs in STEM-related fields has been increasing, the number of students pursuing degrees in these fields has been decreasing.
In addition to the University of Texas at Austin, the VILS Higher Education program currently is available to students in UTeach secondary STEM teacher preparation programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Kansas at Lawrence and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Best practices on integrating mobile technology into STEM teaching and learning from this program will eventually be added to the UTeach curriculum, allowing the program to reach more than 6,200 students enrolled in 35 UTeach programs at universities nationwide.

30th Annual EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Set To Take Place Next Week At The Lahaina Civic Center
Championship Round Teams Arrive on Island a Collective 30-0
MAUI, Hawaii, Nov. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --The Championship Round of the 30(th) annual EA SPORTS Maui Invitational will take place on Nov. 25, 26 and 27 at the intimate 2,400-seat Lahaina Civic Center. Syracuse, Gonzaga, Baylor, Arkansas, Minnesota, California, Dayton and host Chaminade arrive on Maui a perfect 30-0 on the season.
The field features three teams ranked in the current USA TODAY Coaches poll, including No. 7 Syracuse, No. 12 Gonzaga and No. 21 Baylor. The collective 30-0 record of participating teams marks the first time that each school has entered the Tournament undefeated, having played at least one game.

TOKYO, Nov. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that it will launch PlayStation®Store (PS Store)(*1) for PlayStation®Mobile (PSM) in nine new countries starting December 18(th), 2013. With this expansion, SCE will offer a wide variety of exciting content via PS Store to users in total of 18 countries including Japan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, as well as in newly added countries including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and New Zealand.
Prior to the PS Store expansion for PSM, SCE will offer the PSM Developer Program which includes distribution of the official PSM SDK(*2) in the newly added countries starting December 5(th), 2013.
Allowing a wider range of developers -- from indie to large publishers -- to create dedicated content for PSM, the PSM Developer Program has been available since November 20(th), 2012, in Japan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia, followed by the launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan on January 21(st), 2013. With the addition of nine new countries, developers in a total of 20 countries will be able to create entertainment content for multiple mobile devices, further expanding the world of PlayStation to an open operating system(*3) through PSM.
This program enables developers, who have entered into the licensing agreements with SCE(*4), to easily distribute content through the PS Store on a commercial basis. It also allows them to market their games to millions of dedicated gamers around the world that own a PlayStation(TM)Certified(*5) device or PlayStation®Vita.
SCE will continue to collaborate with content developers to deliver compelling entertainment experiences only available on PlayStation to a rapidly expanding audience through PSM.

Borgata To Begin Online Gaming Testing In New Jersey
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) today announced that Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa has received authorization from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to begin a trial launch of its real-money online gaming product in New Jersey.
Starting at 6 p.m. Eastern Time today, Borgata plans to commence a "soft play" period on its online gaming sites. Soft play on the sites will be limited to invited customers and certain qualified Borgata team members. Boyd Gaming's online gaming partner, bwin.party digital entertainment plc, will also begin testing of its online gaming sites at this time.
During this period, Borgata and bwin.party will be testing various features of the online gaming sites, including geo-location, customer identity verification, payment processing, and general game performance. Representatives of the DGE will closely monitor this process during the soft play period.

Tech Retail Experience Amplified
The Amplify It zone was a hit with Gomez and her special guests. The music technology showcase includes a Wall of Sound with 299 speakers, a digital DJ and an Amplify It Music Mixer that allows shoppers to immerse themselves in the digital music experience.
Reinventing Customer Experience Nationwide
The Verizon Destination Store is part of a broader initiative that includes the redesign of Verizon Wireless' more than 1,700 retail stores nationwide. Called Smart Stores, the newly redesigned locations showcase the same mobile lifestyle zones as the Verizon Destination Store but on a smaller scale.
The Verizon Wireless online store and Gadgets & Gear portal have also been redesigned to deliver smart-purchase recommendations and provide a consistent shopping experience for customers across browsers and mobile platforms.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems performing real-time silicon
device code recognition utilizing the Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC and

system processes the video stream at 60fps while the software-only
implementation runs at a slower rate. The acceleration of hardware was
implemented using VisualApplets from Silicon Software that reduces
development time and design complexity.

streams transferred with different high-speed protocols for machine
vision cameras and frame grabbers that are enabled by the Xilinx® 7
